Just a quick note to let you know I'm in the process of converting to Wordpress. I've transferred by blog posts and comments over but it'll take awhile to get it looking the way I want it to.

The domain name is tiacherie.com (not sure if it's working yet). Alternatively tiacheriefashion.wordpress.com

Will update you with more progress.Imogenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02595505974844771279noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7078947869919602411.post-24387427973055195342017-03-02T09:00:00.000+11:002017-03-02T09:00:09.477+11:00New In: B.A.I.T Footwear<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Despite my goal of spending less on clothes and shoes this year (which overall has been going well),I had a bit of a splurge online with B.A.I.T Footwear. As you may know I am completely in love with B.A.I.T Footwear. It is without a doubt my favourite brand for shoes and it's got to the point where I almost exclusively wear these shoes. I did a post on my collection awhile ago here but I plan to create an updated version soon.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The 'Gloria Flats' are by far my favourite make by B.A.I.T Footwear. Up until now they've only been available in red and in black, which is comparatively limited given most other shoes come in a myriad of colours. I've had so much wear from the Glorias that I've repurchased both the red and the black a couple of times. My favourite outfit with the black version was posted here. I was browsing the website a couple of weeks ago and noticed the Glorias were released in purple, pink and teal. It was a dream come true. I couldn't not buy them considering they are my go to shoe and I know I'll get so much use from them. I can't think of any outfit they wouldn't go with. There are a few items I'd break my spending ban for and I knew that would be a new release Gloria flat, and the same applies to a couple of colour ways in the Wheels and Dollbaby Dita Cardigan.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I've lost count how many colours in have of the 'Robbie Heels.' The sparkly blue version is one of my favourites which I posted here. The Robbies are a gorgeous vintage design and are also very comfortable. I couldn't resist the mustard yellow because that's got to be one of the coolest shades in the world! I was also drawn in by the red version because it's such a classy deep red shade and I love the patent finish. Now I want the Robbies in teal and in pink.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Isn't it amazing wearing new shoes?! My motivation to go to work last week was higher than usual because I was wearing the pretty coloured Glorias and Robbies!
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

I purchased these shoes directly from the B.A.I.T Footwear website. I'm often asked where to buy this brand in Australia but to be honest there aren't many options. Any online store I've seen based in Australia just has such a limited range of stock. If you're serious about owning this brand go with ordering directly from the US. Yes, the postage is crazy high (I hate to think how much I've spent on postage over the years) but I love the shoes so much I consider it worth it. I placed my order on a Thursday night and it arrived only a few days later on the Monday morning. I'm impressed a package can come from the US to Australia that quickly for any price!
This outfit is the reverse of the one I posted earlier in the week- red on green instead of green on red. I like the way this outfit turned out. It wasn't planned, it came together in a rush before work. I also like how this outfit combines a couple of old favourites. I've had the cardigan for probably five years now and there wouldn't be many pieces in my wardrobe I'm still wearing from that long ago. (Back in the days I when had short brown hair). I like the frill detail and the silver buttons. It's such a nice deep shade of red too. Red is actually incredibly versatile to me. I could accessorise pretty much any dress in my wardrobe with red details.I did a remix post on this cardigan a few years ago here. The mint green lace dress is another old favourite. I've had it for a similar length of time. It's from Portmans and I was so surprised to find it in that store. It seems different to the usual Portmans style and I rarely go into the store. However, I've had so much wear from this dress and will continue to do so. Isn't it incredible how much clothes can remind us of certain times in our lives. In this case, not the best times as my life wasn't easy five years ago. However, the way clothes bring back such vivid memories is quite remarkable.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">My shoes are a much more recent purchase. I've been cutting down the spending this year. However, these shoes are one of the few items I've purchased. I've mentioned a few times how I'm a major fan of B.A.I.T Footwear. The vintage designs are unrivaled by other brands and they are very comfortable. I've built up quite a collection now (hoping to do an post on my updated collection soon). I have the Robbies in a few different colours now and when they were released in red I simply couldn't resist. I've noticed Kitten D'Amour appear to have replicated a few B.A.I.T Footwear designs now including the Robbies. I'm not sure the background on it but from my perspective I'm not a fan of the replication. Now I have the red version of the Robbies from B.A.I.T Footwear I appreciate how much better they are; a much classier deeper shade of red, patent and overall better quality.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Thanks so much for your advice regarding my photos being stolen on ebay. It was very helpful and I really appreciate it!
In addition to being incredibly busy (which you can read about on my fitness blog here), I hadn't dyed my hair in months and my regrowth was so terrible it was all the way back to my bun. I had a few people ask whether it was intentional ombre! Therefore, I'd been avoiding outfit pictures and cameras in general. I finally had my hair dyed again this weekend. I must never let it get so bad again. Red hair and a routine of swimming six days a week isn't easy. But I love both red hair and swimming so I make it work the best I can.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The Kitten D'Amour Picture Perfect dress has easily become my most worn and go to dress. I'm often in a rush for work after training in the mornings so I reach for this dress time and time again. It's so simple to pair with any of my cardigans. I wish I had the blue version of the dress too. I've said many times before that red and green is such an underrated colour scheme. It certainly shouldn't just be reserved for Christmas. I wear these colours together frequently (such as here and here on the blog). Green is supposed to be good with red hair also.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">On another note I'm so frustrated by seeing my personal pictures, taken entirely for the purposes of this blog, used on other people's ebay listings. It's happened quite a few times including right now for the Emerald Green Dita Cardigan. I cannot comprehend why anyone would think that's acceptable. Use some common sense. Just take your own pictures!! I'm also incredibly frustrated by the responses received when I ask the ebay seller to take my pictures down. How can the fact my images show up in a google search, be used as a justification for using them? How can my personal blog photos be compared to using actual stock photos from a website? There's no need to respond in such a manner. Have you ever experienced this, any tips of what to do?
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I've always loved stripes, bows and the combination of red, white and blue so this is certainly my style. It's a classic design but also a little different because most of the cardigans at Alannah Hill are solid rather than patterned. My only concern is the large composition of cotton. I usually avoid buying cotton cardigans because of how they lose shape and I don't like the feel of the material. It's not completely cotton so I'd have to see what this cardigan is like in person.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Today I had to go into the city to collect my race kit for the weekend (running event and ocean swim) and while I was there I went into the Kate Spade store. I rarely go to Sydney Westfield so visiting the Kate Spade store was a treat. It was amazing! The store is so pretty and sparkly. <span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The Valentines<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"> collection is so beautiful and I've always liked heart print. <span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I found so many pieces I wanted to buy. Without going on a massive shopping spree I could probably justify purchasing a wallet but I'll wait until my birthday because I'm trying to get out of the habit of spending just because I see something I like.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I already have the Nike Free Rn in a few different colours and I'm very impressed with them (I'll write a separate post about them on my fitness blog eventually). They are running shoes but I wear them for bootcamp, to tennis and to and from swimming. I love the minimalist and lightweight design and they are very comfortable. The bright colour range is also a feature and, at the moment, the Free Rn is available in 13 different colours on the Nike website. I desperately want to add this pink and blue version to my collection but I'm spending less at the moment so resisting the desire to buy more.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I discovered this today during a quick trip to Sephora. I was amazed by the pretty metallic packaging in red, gold and pink. It's hard to choose a favourite but overall I think the red was the most pretty in person. As far as I can tell it appears to be the usual Marc Jacobs Daisy fragrance just with different bottles. I've always liked Daisy and I'm running low on it (maybe I'll try and get some for my birthday next month). I can still smell the scent on me which I sampled earlier today. So pretty. Knowing me, I'd probably find some excuse to own all three colours.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">There are many Alannah Hill cardigans I love at the moment (and as always!) but this one is my favourites because of the unique colour. It's so difficult to find yellow clothes and especially mustard yellow which is unfortunate because it's such a standout shade. It also comes in pink which is also pretty. I adore the detailing and beading.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Following on from the Kate Spade theme, I've always wanted a bag. It would be my favourite brand of bag to have (other than Chanel of course!) I love how the bags are so creative; you don't see a swan printed bag every day. To me, it's classic and fun at the same time. I've always liked swans for some reason too. At $489 it's an expensive bag. I'm sure it could be seen as an investment, right!?!!
I've certainly never had so many shades in the one product before. I've also never been so excited by a makeup product. It's been really fun to try shades I wouldn't normally so I thought I'd share <span style="background-color: white; color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">my thoughts here. It look me almost an entire day to complete this post!

<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The lip product I use daily and have for many years is Maybelline Provocalips. It's perfect in terms of texture and staying power but I find the colour range limited. Other than the red and dark red, the other shades don't appeal to me. So that was my motivation behind finding another brand. In the past I've also tried Too Faced Melted which has an amazing colour range but it doesn't always stay on the lips and ends up in unwanted places on the face. It's also rather expensive. NYX soft matte lip cream addresses many of the issues I've had previously with lip products. There are so many shades I love but at the same time there are many I wouldn't wear such as the browns and neutrals.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I'd like to repurchase some of my favourite shades but it's so difficult with limited stockists in Australia. I only know of Target and Priceline which have NYX but there aren't many colours. The NYX website doesn't ship internationally. I'll have to work out where I can buy them.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Adis Ababa and Copenhhagen
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Adis Ababa is a medium pink which is similar to many in this collection. I like it but it's not a particular standout. and in terms of repurchasing I'd probably go with Paris. Copenhagen is my absolute favourite in the collection and I have worn it continually since I bought it. I've already used up the sample and need to repurchase it. I look forward to wearing it with the Rouge Noir version of the Dita Cardigan when the weather is colder. It has a red undertone compared to Moscow which is more of a blue undertone and Transylvania which is a purple undertone. That makes it more wearable for everyday.
<u style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting", helvetica, sans-serif;">Stockholm and Moscow
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Stockholm is a neutral shade with a pink undertone. As far as neutrals go I like it and believe it suits my skin tone, however I wouldn't wear it as I always prefer bright lips. Moscow is one of a few dark colours in this range but this one has more of a blue undertone. It's a little bold for every day wear (even for me) but since I like it I hope there's some occasion I can find to make it work.
<u style="background-color: white; color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting", helvetica, sans-serif;">Manila and Paris
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Manila is a coral shade with an orange undertone. I often don't look good in orange but this is exactly the right amount of orange. It's a little different from the colours I wear on an every day basis but I like it and I'll certainly be using it again. Paris is the brightest pink I've tried so far in the collection but it's not particularly unique as many brands have similar shades. It's one I'd get a lot of use from so I'm likely to repurchase.
<u style="background-color: white; color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting", helvetica, sans-serif;">Transylvania and Abu Dhabi
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Transylvania is unique and bold and I can definitely make it work. It's one of my favourites from the whole collection and I've been looking for a shade like this for ages. It has more of a purple undertone in comparison to Copenhagen and Moscow. It will definitely be a repurchase. Abu Dhabi is a neutral with a brown undertone. There are too many shades which look this way in the soft matte range. <span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">At first Sydney was disappointing but after a couple more tries I don't mind it. It's not the most flattering shade but it's fun to wear and I haven't got any shades like it. The consistency isn't as smooth as most of the other colours though. Seoul was a surprise. I was expecting it to be more purple from the container; it's more of a berry pink hue than I thought. It's a winner and will be a repurchase.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Istanbul is a standard and average medium pink. I don't mind it and favour it over many of the neutrals in the collection, but at the same time it's not a standout. San Juan is a very bright orange, even brighter than it appears in the pictures. Orange is a new shade for me and I like it. However, I don't think it could work for every day. I hope I'll be able to find an occasion where it is appropriate.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Havana is one of my favourites from the collection and exactly what I was hoping for; it's more the colour I thought Seoul would be. I have always loved purple lip shades. It's very bold for every day use but I adore it too much so I'll have to make it work. I'll definitely be repurchasing. Los Angeles is another neutral with a brown undertone. I'm not used to brown tones on myself and it's not my style.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Cairo is my least favourite of all the colours. It's too plain and looked like I was wearing nothing on my lips. I won't be using it again. The texture wasn't as smooth as the other colours and it was very patchy to apply. Berlin is the darkest brown in the collection. I like it better than the other browns and appreciate it is fairly pigmented. However, again brown is not my style.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Morocco is one of my favourites and will definitely be a repurchase. It's a more wearable version of San Juan as it's less orange and is really a red orange shade. It suits me a lot better than any other orange I've found in the past. Milan is another medium pink which is between Istanbul and Paris in terms of brightness. Again, I like it but it's not a particular standout. I'll have to choose just one of the pinks I like best to repurchase.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I expected Zurich to be another brown based neutral from the container but it has more of a pink hue. It's one of the better neutrals but it's a little plain and I don't have any use for neutrals so probably won't use it again. Antwerp is similar to Milan but has more of a coral undertone. I'm likely to repurchase it.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Tokyo is a pale pink shade which is similar to Sydney but less fun and bright. It's a little too plain and just another pink which is too similar to others in the collection. The application was patchy too. Cannes is yet another neutral and as far as neutrals go, it's one of my preferred shades. However, as mentioned previously I don't think I'll have much use for it.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Buenos Aires is one of my least favourites colours in this range. Again it was patchy to apply and the texture was not smooth. It's a neutral with a pink or peachy undertone. Dubai is one of the darker browns very much like Berlin. I prefer it to the lighter or neutral browns because it's richer but again brown doesn't suit me.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Bangkok is such a unique standout and one of my favourites. I've bee obsessed with purple lip colours since I discovered Too Faced Melted Violet a couple of years ago. Bangkok is a little brighter and even more fun than Havanna. <span style="background-color: white; color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Rome is a brown tone but of all the browns it's my favourite in the collection. It's less harsh on my skin tone, maybe because the undertone has a little pink to it. Even though I never usually wear brown, I'd consider using this again. Budapest has more red to it which is evident next to Rome. I definitely like it but prefer some of the traditional reds like Monte Carlo and Madrid more.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I've decided to create a fitness blog. It's an idea I've been thinking about for awhile now and makes sense given sport is my main interest at the moment. The time now feels right because I have many ideas for the blog which will include favourite products, my fitness goals, active wear fashion and updates on parts of my daily life. Both sport and fashion are my interests so I've been thinking about whether to post everything on the one blog or have them separate. I think separately will be a lot more organised and I appreciate my current audience may not be interested in some of the fitness content I'm going to post. But I want to do it because it reflects my life more accurately at the moment. It's interesting the common misconception that it's impossible to like both fashion and sport. People I meet for the first time are always so surprised I do sport especially swimming and that misconception is usually based on my clothes. It shouldn't be that way.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">My fitness blog is Tia Cherie Fitness located here.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I'm still setting it up at the moment. I know it's not a very creative name but I couldn't think of anything cool or exciting. Plus Tia Cherie is my relatively established Internet name so it makes sense to stay with it.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I'll still be updating my fashion blog here as per normal. Imogenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02595505974844771279noreply@blogger.com17tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7078947869919602411.post-60125942609009499522017-01-04T14:34:00.000+11:002017-01-06T15:33:21.867+11:00Outfit<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">This is my current favourite outfit and most worn ever since I added the beautiful black and white Dita Cardigan to my collection (post here). It's also the outfit I wore on Christmas Day, the weather was a little warm for a cardigan but I wanted to make it work anyway. It's the same outfit I posted a few weeks ago here but with the black version of the Dita Cardigan instead of pink. I'd wear any of the colourways in the cardigan with this dress because of the way the detailing on the dress matches the embroidery on the cardigan, and also the keyhole design. There aren't many colour combinations I wouldn't wear. I'm sure the colour combination I posted previously of pink with red isn't to everyone's liking but I like it which is all that matters. Black, white and red is probably more conventional. Of all the colourways in this cardigan, black is my favourite which is surprising for someone who likes colour as much as I do. It's probably because the black version is more rare and took me a couple of years to add to my collection.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I'm going back to work tomorrow and I can't quite comprehend how the holidays are over. Seriously, where did that time go? I definitely wish it wasn't time to return and it's difficult to think of the year ahead; I simply cannot face having a year as busy as the last one. But I will just take one day at a time and I have lots to look forward to on the weekends and before/after work.
<span style="color: red; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="color: red; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Swimming: 2016 was entirely about swimming for me. I have a background in swimming from when I was a child but it was twelve years since I'd been in the water. Sometimes I can't believe I stayed away for so long because out of anything I've done in my life, swimming is still what I feel most comfortable with. I joined swim club on the first Wednesday night of 2016 and didn't miss one all year. I also accepted zero excuses from myself for missing training (no matter how much it hurt or how cold it was at 5.30am in winter). I quickly found a good routine to stick to for the whole year but I didn't find it easy with a full time job mainly because of the constant lack of sleep. But I had a dream this year, not just to return to swimming but to get to the level I used to be as a child. It took training most days all year but I did it in the end.
<span style="color: red; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="color: red; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">One of the first swim meets I did for the year was the Western Met RSL Carnival. I certainly did not expect to win the trophy for the open 50m freestyle championship race. To be fair, there wasn't much competition, it was a small carnival and I was still 3-4 seconds off where I wanted to be for the race but still not too bad for the first 50m freestyle I'd entered in 12 years. Unfortunately didn't get to keep the trophy but still exciting to get my name on it. Since it was my first one in so many years I just had to get a picture.
I didn't win the open race for this carnival but hope to go back again another year.

<span style="color: red; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: small;">In total I believe I attended six RSL carnivals and 15 Masters Swimming NSW meets for the year. I wanted to put in maximum effort and be involved in everything. However, I found the Masters events particularly stressful. They shouldn't have been but racing swimming makes me nervous despite having learned to race when I was nine years old. It is pressure I put on myself because I'm so annoyed and disappointed at myself if I swim a bad time. I am still not sure how to deal with this.

<span style="color: red; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The highlights for the first half of the year were the Long Course State Championships at Sydney Olympic Park in April and Ettalong Masters in May. The State Championships were one of the few Masters Meets with medals so that was pretty exciting! I knew I still had lots of work to do because my times were so far off where I wanted them to be.

<span style="color: red; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The Ettalong meet was amazing for a different reason. I spent the weekend away at Pearl Beach with my friends and we had free time after the swimming events were over. Pearl Beach was the most beautiful location and since it is very secluded it's the perfect escape from every day life.

<span style="color: red; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">In May there was the summer presentation for my swimming club. I'd only been in the club for half a season at that point so was very happy to win these awards. I won the open 100m freestyle championship event which was a huge surprise. However, again I knew it wasn't a fast time so had the goal to become a lot better.
I won five medals at the championships but it was a weekend of ups and downs. Three personal best times and two terrible times. I'd never been so disappointed with any races all year as I was with two of the swims. I even felt bad having gold medals for them. I was much happier with the silver medals because they were good swims. Overall I had an amazing time up the coast again and hope we go back again this year.
<span style="color: red; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Next was our own Halloween themed swimming carnival hosted by my swimming club. It was one of the most stressful times ever organising the decorations and coordinating various tasks on the day. Aside from that the swimming went well. I won the trophy for the open 50m freestyle championships. I'd wanted this so much given it was our own carnival. As you can see I dressed as a black cat for the themed presentation afterwards.
I participated in the 400m backstroke and 800m freestyle. I knew the 800m freestyle would be hugely competitive when deciding what to swim for the meet but I wanted to try it as a challenge. I was very happy with 3rd. I also love the look of the bronze medals and it was my first one.
The name is self explanatory and requires a log book to be kept which documents total distance swam. I find it motivating because every training session and every single lap counts for something. I ended up swimming 679.3km this year which is an average of 13km each week. I still have to swim 320.7km to reach one million metres so it will take a number of months more. But I can see the end and I hope to receive that award before the middle of 2017.
I couldn't be happier; this is the longest break I've had from work since I started at my current workplace which was almost three and a half years ago. I've been looking forward to this time for a long time now. I don't have any major plans, after the 26th of December all my days are free so far. I prefer it that way. This year has been so incredibly busy and I never have enough time at home. I'm most looking forward to doing lots of sport and being at home watching Youtube and Netflix.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">It's the time of year for posts which review the year that's been. I'll create a separate post with my outfits from 2016. For now I'll write about some other aspects of the year. I can easily say (so far) 2016 has been the best year of my life (at least my life as an adult). Prior to last year I had a number of terrible years and I've been through a lot in my life so because of that I am incredibly grateful. The reason for such a positive year is taking up sport again particularly swimming. It's been my number one priority all year at the expense of anything else. I had a lot of very specific goals for swimming and there's nothing I wouldn't have done to achieve them. I accepted zero excuses from myself for missing training and racing. I became a lot tougher this year which feels like an achievement. I never say any of this to brag, I don't think I'm particularly amazing or impressive. But I like to acknowledge the progress I have made because it proves what can be done with a dream and wanting something enough. For me this sense of dedication and purpose comes out in sport. Despite a twelve year break from swimming prior to this year, it's a feeling I've never experienced in any other context of life. However, it could be from anything else for a range of people. Never stop setting goals and doing whatever it takes to achieve them.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Here's what happened in 2016:
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="color: red; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Tennis: three weeks ago I joined tennis club. It's been the best decision and I look forward to it every week. It's for three hours on Sunday morning and is very relaxed. At first I thought the easy going nature would be frustrating for me because I get really competitive with sports but actually it's perfect. I already have swimming to be competitive about and I often feel lots of pressure from myself so tennis works out really well. My husband also joined tennis with me so it's nice to have an activity to do together, especially since he generally hates sport.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">
<span style="color: blue; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Running: after many recurring ankle and foot injuries towards the end of last year and the beginning of this year, I've been back into running since March. With improved fitness and strength I believe my body finally got used to long distance running. I'm very grateful for that because of the problems I've had previously. I usually run three times a week- Tuesday mornings, Thursday nights and Saturday morning (which is Parkrun). Parkrun has been my main involvement with running. I've attended 35 times this year and would have more if I didn't have conflicting swimming commitments. I can't wait to receive the 50 Parkruns shirt which I'm aiming for around next March. I'm also aiming to come top three in the pointscore for my local Parkrun. It's been hard since I attend a very popular Parkrun location. 5km is now my best time because it's the only distance I race regularly. <span style="color: blue; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">In July I participated in my first ever running event which was the Sydney Harbour 10km. It was the best experience and I enjoyed the atmosphere of being a part of it. My background is in swimming and not running so I felt a self of achievement completing the event. It motivated me to complete three more running events for the year and I'm intending to do others next year.
<span style="color: blue; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Next was the City to Surf in August which was a 14km run from the city to Bondi Beach. It's a hugely popular event with over 67 000 finishers. It was an incredibly tough course because of the terrain. A significant part of the course was up hill which I didn't expect, in addition to a huge hill in the middle. In the end I got through it.
<span style="font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">In September I participated in my first ever half marathon at the Blackmores Sydney Running Festival. I'd been considering a half marathon for a couple of months but wasn't sure if the goal to run 21.1km was just too big. I couldn't get the idea of a half marathon out of my mind so that's why I knew I'd give it a go. I didn't have a time specific goal but just wanted to run the entire course. I achieved that and finished in 2:03.51. I'd definitely be up for more half marathons and I'm considering two next year. I am set on getting under 2 hours next time. Prior to a month before I'd never run 10km. I didn't do any specific training for the event and was lucky enough to be able to rely on swimming training and have a good overall fitness level.
<span style="font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The final running event I participated in for the year was the Western Sydney 10km in October. It was a great event by Western Sydney and so nice not to have to get into the city, the less crowds and much more space was appreciated. Knowing it was the last one for the year I put in maximum effort and went out for a best time. I was very happy with 52 minutes, 43 seconds for the 10km.
I have a large quantity of clothes so that's really saying something; it's right up there with my all time favourites. As you probably know by now, I love these Dita Cardigans and have five of them , mainly the newer release colourways as I only discovered them last year. I am always on the lookout for some of the rarer and older versions on ebay and the facebook group. Since they are very expensive and often sell at above retail price, I'm trying to be sensible about it and only buy my top couple of colourways if they ever come on sale, that being the black version with white trim and the pale blue version with white embroidery and black trim. Very surprisingly this beauty was listed on ebay earlier in the week and I snapped it up immediately. I never thought I'd find one. In person it's everything I wanted and I'm so happy. I've had mixed success buying these online and in pre owned condition before. I'm taken a risk on a couple on ebay before and ended up reselling them (which isn't a problem as they are always resellable). However, this one is in excellent condition and feels almost as though I'd just bought it new directly from the website. It's a lovely tight fit including the sleeves, impressive quality. I cannot wait to wear it!
It's from the Forget Me Not Collection at Kitten D'Amour which was one of my favourites from that store. I love the matching top but there are so many other pairing possibilities too. It's one of my go to pieces when I don't know what to wear. I adore the embroidered lace and the colour is so pretty.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">This is my dream cardigan. I've been searching for the pink version of the dita cardigan (specifically with white embroidery and black detailing) for about a year and a half now ever since I discovered this range of cardigans. I've finally added it to my collection after purchasing one on ebay. I cannot believe how highly sought after these cardigans have become and the prices commanded for some of the rarer colours. It's incredible that collectors have more than 20 of these cardigans in all different colours. I've seen pre owned condition cardigans sell for up to $500. I definitely wouldn't pay that but I'm willing to pay a fair bit for a couple I really want if I ever find them. I now have four dita cardigans in total. I wish I'd discovered them earlier so I hadn't missed out on so many colourways over the years. I'm hoping one day there will be a yellow version of this cardigan. <span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I had quite a few comments on this outfit wearing it to lunch on the weekend. Pink and red is a colour combination which is worn so rarely but it's definitely one of my favourites. I'm not sure why no one else ever seems to wears this colour combination.
I've said this a lot lately but it's incredible how much better and how different life seems in the beautiful weather. I seem to forget this from year to year; each October/November it appears even nicer than the year before. I purchased this dress about a year ago and posted it here. I used to always wear it as a skirt with a cardigan over the top because it was too big in the bust and too long in the bodice. Although not the perfect fit, it does fit me a lot better now than it did a year ago so I can finally use it as a dress. It's a very pretty design; I love the pastels and the velvet blue ribbon. Not much else to say at the moment. Happy it's the weekend!
I'm hoping to post more regularly from now on; I'm definitely still busy but the lighter nights help with taking pictures and creating blog material. As I mentioned in my last post, this is the newest dress in my collection. It's the Que Sera Sera collar dress from Kitten D'Amour. I had mixed feelings regarding this collection. The quality wasn't as high as some of the kitten designs. That's not to say there's an issue with the quality because there certainly wasn't. I'm just extremely particular and I like all my dresses to be lined in the skirt part and this wasn't. If they were I may well have purchased two designs from the collection. This particular dress was by far my favourite. The only potential issue is how low cut it is on me. However, I'm fine with it because I'm prepared for my undergarments to show and form part of the outfit; I don't think it looks much different from having a top underneath. The dress also came with a matching belt but on this occasion I liked the red belt. I don't like Kitten D'Amour as much as I used to. There are my pieces in the store which are not my style these days and, although it remains the shop I go to most, I purchase less than I used to. There are other aspects which I find frustrating too. Many of the staff (but certainly not all!) are too pushy and don't even allow privacy when trying on clothes in the change rooms. I don't like the censorship on their Facebook page and discussion group. I've seen comments deleted whenever someone expresses a negative view towards the store. They are implementing petty rules such as not allowing customers to take pictures in the store. I believe customers and supporters of the brand should be allowed to openly and objectively have discussions. I am not a fan of the restrictions and censorship.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I couldn't be happier the weekend is here. It's beautiful spring weather and I'm enjoying simple aspects of life such as walking in the sunshine, sitting on the balcony and having an afternoon off work. I will also do some training for both swimming and running. I have the Long Distance Championships for swimming on Sunday. I'll be racing the 400m backstroke and 800m freestyle. I can't say I'm looking forward to it because racing makes me nervous (don't know why given I race weekly and started competitive swimming when I was nine years old) but hopefully it'll feel like a achievement once it's over.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I tried on the new Kitten D'Amour collection in store on Thursday and purchased one of the other dresses (think it will be my next outfit post). However, this was a close second and I'll keep my eye on it. I love this particular peekaboo cut and wish there were more dresses like it. I also like the patterns in this dress, both of them alone are amazing but I adore them even more when mixed. Plus anything pink and purple is definitely my style. The one aspect of this piece I didn't like was the absence of lining in the skirt section. I'm very particular about the quality of clothes (and most Kitten D'Amour dresses are lined) so that was disappointing. If it had lining it probably would have justified purchasing two dresses from the one collection.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Ever since I started a routine involving A LOT a sport this year, I've loved Nike shoes. I'm not quite sure how I managed to acquire four pairs since the beginning of the year. The beautiful bright colours means there's always a design I have my eye on; at the moment it's this pink pair. I like both the Free Run design and the Free Run Distance design for training. For long runs and racing I like to run in Nike Fly Knit.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I see a theme here; everything so far has been pink. It's been a long time since I've purchased a piece other than a cardigan from Alannah Hill but at the moment I like many of the skirts and dresses. The floral print is very much my style and the fit and flare design is the only type of skirt I wear. I haven't seen it in person yet, only online but I'm sure it's just as pretty.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I love these heels more than I can put into words. They are super pretty and I adore the vintage inspiration. These heels remind me very much of a pair I used to have from Modcloth about five years ago. They were my favourite ever shoes but completely wore out and I've been desperate to replace them ever since. I think this would be the closest match I've ever seen. They also look comfortable as far as heels go. I'm not as willing to wear comfortable shoes as I used to be; need to save my feet and ankles for the long distance running.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I'm drawn to many of the patterned bags in Guess at the moment and this is my favourite. I see another theme developing here and that is florals. It's very classy with the black background against the floral accents. I haven't purchased a Guess bag since maybe the start of the year. I was very put off by the experience I had with a Guess bag about a year ago (extremely poor quality where I ended up sending even the replacement back). But if I like a Guess bag enough now it might be time once again to get into the market again.
I remember a few years ago the whole store was completely my style, but recently it's been the opposite. However, I love this pair! I've always liked yellow shoes as they are so bright and happy, adding a lot to any outfit. The cut out detailing makes the shoes that little bit more interesting. They would be the perfect summer shoe.
I've been there a couple of times this year for swimming and it's one of my favourite ever locations. It is so incredibly beautiful. I also like Pearl Beach specifically because it's so secluded at the bottom of a mountain. It's like being in another world and provides the opportunity to forget about real life for awhile sometimes. There was also enough time after the swimming to enjoy the area. We went for a bushwalk on the Sunday to the top of the mountain and witnessed an amazing outlook into Pearl Beach and Patonga. I've always loved the Central Coast. Since I already live in the north of Sydney, it's not that far away (the start of the Central Coast is only 40 minutes up the freeway). My Nana lived on the Central Coast (but much further up) for most of my childhood so I've spent lots of time there previously and have many memories. I would very seriously consider moving out of Sydney and to the Central Coast one day. I'd definitely be willing to commute into Sydney City for work each day (as it couldn't be worse than the 1.5 hours each way I do currently within Sydney). Here are my pictures from the weekend (I'll provide an update on the swimming meet later).
Luckily it's a long weekend here so I had a very rare sleep in this morning. <span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting", helvetica, sans-serif;">Yes, I was a little overdressed but I don't do casual clothes; I'm either wearing dressy clothes or sportswear and there's no in between. This outfit also proves that I do occasionally wear black! I haven't liked as many pieces from Kitten D'Amour this year as I did in the past but finally this dress was a winner for me. As soon as I tried it on I knew I couldn't leave the store without it. The flower embroidery is so beautiful and I love the overlay. The cameo brooch coincidentally matches the bow in my hair. The dress is a strapless design but it's still a little cold here for that. Also, to be perfectly honest, I feel very self conscious about my arms these days. Strapless designs always used to be my favourite but this year the shape of my arms have changed from swimming and strength training. It's only been the arms as I still fit in the same clothes. A part of me will never be happy about that but there's no way I could compete or do my current routine having been as underweight as I was a couple of years ago. Overall I know I'm much happier these days and it's a small price to pay compared to the pain, anxiety and depression I used to feel when I had the "perfect" body. I remind myself of that whenever I need it.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Two days ago I participated in my first ever half marathon at the Blackmores Sydney Running Festival. I'd been considering a half marathon for a couple of months now but the thought of running 21.1km is very overwhelming so left the decision until only a couple of weeks before. I couldn't get the idea of a half marathon out of my mind so I knew I wouldn't be satisfied until I tried it. My goal was to run the whole thing and not worry about a specific goal time. I achieved this and did run the entire distance- time in the end was 2:03.51. I'd definitely do another half marathon (not for awhile!) my goal next time would be to get under 2 hours. The reason this feels like a huge achievement is because running is a new sport for me. I've only done it seriously for a few months now, July was my first ever running event and prior to the City2Surf in August, I'd never run more than 10km. I don't have the background in running that I do in swimming. Also, I've never done any specific training for a running event or for this half marathon. I've relied on my swimming training and, as a result of having a good fitness level, I'm able to give long distance running a go. There's no way I could have done this without the swimming.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I convinced the husband to participate in the Family Fun Run which is a 4km. He came in the top half without running any of it! He's also agreed to come to the next running event which is in two weeks time.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">My sister went back to London yesterday after being here for three weeks. We had the best time together but now I'm really feeling her absence. We tried not to make a big deal of her leaving as I knew we'd talk again the next day. The hardest part for me is knowing this is intended as permanent- - we won't live in the same country again, the most I can expect is a couple of weeks together every year. I get through it by keeping incredibly busy especially with sport. If I need to be somewhere and I'm constantly around other people, I can't possibly feel what I might otherwise. Keeping busy and taking it one day at a time is the only way I get through anything in life and it's taken me awhile to learn that. Here is a re-post of my favourite picture of our time together.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Swimming is still taking up a lot of my time. I've taken a two day break after running the half marathon and I think that's actually the longest I've gone without swimming all year. More than enjoying swimming, it's the desire to improve which motivates me to continue. Daily exercise and early mornings have become a way of life now; it doesn't feel right when I'm not doing that. It was amazing to do some swimming with my sister while she was here; I'm surprised she wanted to swim so often. I took her to weekly racing at swim club and it reminded me of when we were kids. I tried some outdoor swimming last week to see if it was warm enough again- I had the whole pool to myself!
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I'm enjoying the spring weather; everything in life seems better and more manageable in this weather. It changed so quickly, almost overnight it became warm again. I keep reminding myself training can only get easier now, I truly have no idea how I showed up to the pool at 5.30am each Monday throughout winter, for example. It'll be so enjoyable in coming months when it's hot at those early hours of the day. I took this picture at lunch time on a work day. I rarely see the city other than while in the area for work.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">About a month ago I incorporated fruit smoothies into my diet. For as long as I can remember, I've had the worst possible diet, it'would be embarrassing to even mentioned it! In fact it wasn't until I discussed it out loud that I felt motivated to make some changes. I haven't changed completely but this is one daily improvement I've made. I previously didn't eat fruit at all and one of these contains berries and a banana. The other benefit is it takes about 5 minutes to make. I often have them for dinner after training. I previously would have ordered takeaway because of being too tired to do anything else. The husband will drink one if I make them so that's a bonus too.
It's very rare the five of us are all together especially with my sister living in London these days. Palm Beach is the northernmost suburb of Sydney and features beautiful landscape including an historic lighthouse. I actually haven't been here for years. It was such lovely and warm weather. Ever since the start of September, the weather has improved almost instantly. Life seems so much better in all respects. I'm particularly pleased because training can only get easier now- those 5.30am starts at the pool in the middle of winter were brutal!
I literally cannot comprehend how the time has gone so fast. My annual leave is over in just two days and what I'd do for just a few more days away from work. It's so hard knowing this time isn't forever and she will be returning to London in less than two weeks. Here are a few activities we've been up to!

<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The Bay Run
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">This is a popular 7km pathway/running track/cycle course along the waterside of the inner western suburbs of Sydney. I have surprisingly never run the course before, mainly because it's quite far away from where I live. However, it's something I've always wanted to do. There's a fun run held there annually, but this year it was unfortunately on the same day as a masters swimming carnival so I couldn't attend. Running here is so much nicer than elsewhere else and the course is overall relatively flat. I ran a total of 12km- almost two laps of the course (decided to walk the last 2km of the second lap to take in more of the scenery and enjoy the experience). I really want to come back.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I haven't been out on the bikes for months now so it was lots of fun to go for a ride around the streets. By the end of it, sister had decided bike riding wasn't for her! I'm always surprised how hard bike riding is on the legs. If it was easier I'd probably consider signing up for a triathlon some day.
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting", helvetica, sans-serif;">As a regular at the Parkrun, it was so nice to finally be able to take my sister to her first one- we'd been <span style="color: magenta; font-family: "lucida handwriting", helvetica, sans-serif;">looking forward to this event for ages! She really enjoyed the experience. The weather was incredibly windy and the track was very wet so not the best conditions; I unfortunately just missed my goal time. I feel so annoyed at myself whenever my 5km time exceeds 25 minutes these days. How times have changed given my first ever Parkrun last year took me over 30 minutes to complete.
I've always loved the provence design from Wheels and Dollbaby and I was really surprised when another range of this print was recently released. I thought it would be in the archives forever and I'd never get to add it to my wardrobe. I've substantially increased my collection of Wheels and Dollbaby cardigans this year; I only had two last year. Interestingly, other than the cardigans, I don't like anything else from Wheels and Dollbaby; I think it's the use of leather and silk, combined with pencil silhouettes which isn't my style. This skirt has to be one of the most worn pieces I've ever owned. It goes with everything! I'm sure it'll be ready for a remix post soon (previously worn here, here and here).
