Outfit
Thank you for the birthday wishes. I had a lovely weekend celebrating with family and I received some fabulous gifts which I will show you later in the week. Since I've been on a spending ban recently, receiving clothes and shoes was even more meaningful than usual. It's so great to feel that rush of excitment over having new items again. My birthday celebrations started on Friday night as I went to Opera Bar with my sister (I wore the outfit I posted here). I'd never been to Opera Bar before but it turned out to be one of the best places I've been to for drinks; the scenic location by the harbour and the Opera House was so beautiful. The next day (my actual birthday) I had lunch and played tennis with my parents, followed by a lovely dinner out with Rydog. Then on Sunday night I had dinner with the in laws and my mother in law made me a pretty pink cake with chocolate hearts (I wore the outfit I posted here). It was a wonderful feeling know that people went to so much effort and really do care about me... Now onto the outfit. I've worn this a lot lately. I love the lace detailing in such a soft pretty shade of purple. The neckline in particular reminds me of the bridesmaids dresses for my wedding which I posted here and the dress I wore to another wedding only a month later which I posted here. I guess this must be one of my favourite necklines. As soon as I bought the dress the idea came to me of making it stand out with bright accessories. I've always loved lavender, mint and pink so from that, the outfit came together.

Your Paper Heart Dress is gorgeous! I love the pastel lavender colour, the pretty floral lace embroidery of its bodice and the drape of the dress's fine fabric. Your shoes are a very pretty pink. How nice of your mother in law to make you a pretty pink birthday cake with chocolate hearts. Your big pastel mint hair flower is pretty. That's a nice colour coordinated glow you have in the third photo. :)

ooh happy belated birthday! you look absolutely divine in that dress, I think I have a similar one. But I've definitely seen that lavender one instore, it's so beautiful and you make me wish I had gotten it lol! the high bun is also really cute and I love how from the back there is that beautiful, big flower in your hair! and the way you celebrated your bday was absolutely perfect too. My boyfriend's mum also made me a cake for my birthday, which was really nice of her. I know what you mean about being overwhelmed at people's kindness towards you just for turning a year older. my parents are usually too busy so I felt flabbergasted that someone unrelated to me would actually go to the effort of baking a cake haha!
and congrats again on the interview! as for my job, it's not in law but it's at the ABS (Aus Bureau of Statistics). it was actually the only graduate position I applied for! I guess I chose it because out of all the subjects I did at uni (I did commerce/law) and in high school, economics was probably one of my faves. And govt jobs are very stable and flexible, so it was interesting subject matter combined with the perks of public sector jobs that led me to choose this.
however believe it or not the job is actually a little too slow-paced for my liking, and it has actually prompted me to do College of Law and PLT, and possibly go on to practice law! So I'm thinking of enrolling later on this year to do that. funny because I remember us both not wanting to go on to do law haha. although lately I have been talking to more and more people who are perfectly content to simply have a law degree under their belt just for the sake of it and go on to choose a different career path. but the thing is with my position the work is very cyclical so it's slow now but at a certain point in time it gets realllly busy, so I look forward to that lol!
