Outfits from 2014 and Plans for 2015

Hi everyone, happy 2015. It's that time of year again where we all seem to write about our goals for the year and reflect on 2014. I usually write a lot about this annually on my blog but this time is different. 2014 was without a doubt the worst year of my life and I struggled beyond what I could put into words. I just don't even want to think about it or I'll cry. While I want this year to be completely different, I know that change doesn't happen overnight so the beginning of the year isn't particularly important to me. Rather than rambling on, about the positives and negatives of the year, I'll just leave you with a short post of just a few simple plans for 2015.

I found this quote while following up a story that I watched on Dr Phil (yes, I am the biggest fan). I really connected with it so I wanted to share it here.

Start a Youtube Channel- Ever since the middle of last year I've become interested in youtube; it's great for when I feel alone or bored because it's almost like being with friends. I follow a couple of the big youtubers, although definitely not all of them. My absolute favourite youtube channel is Mammaful Zo. She's so genuine and kind; I'm so excited every time she uploads a new video. I've wanted to join in the fun for a number of months now but still feel a little shy and inexperienced. But I think I'm close to doing it. I need to learn some basics. Do I need video editing software? What can I film videos with? Does anyone know? Any youtubers out there?

Feel Less Depressed- this is a big one and much more complicated than you could possibly imagine. I've tried just about everything over the years so I don't hold out much hope, but I wish more than anything it could happen.

Exercise- I'd like to get back into running very soon. I tried to a few months ago but had to give it up again because I couldn't stand the constant injuries; I'll take it more gradually this time.  I love the fulfillment and achievement that comes from sport. When I was a child my whole life was sport for so many years and, all these years later, I've never replicated that feeling from anything else. Exercise is obviously supposed to have numerous additional benefits so I hope it will improve my lifestyle.

Blogging- I'd love to reach at least 1 000 followers on GFC this year. I've been blogging for ages now and I'm still not there yet. Of course blogging isn't just about numbers so I hope I can improve the variety of my posts and further develop friendships.

Save More Money- Last year my spending was out of control. Each year, when I say I'll save more, the spending gets worse and worse. But I truly believe this will be the year. I've had my fun and I'm over the spending. Last year proved that additional spending doesn't actually make me any happier. Maybe seeing my savings grow will make me feel more motivated towards life.

Life Outside Work- Last year, particularly towards the end, my life was completely about work. I can barely recall a single experience I had outside of work. I didn't mind at the time because there wasn't much else to rush home for, but I really don't want another year that boring.  I'm tired of working the longest hours because I have absolutely nothing else to do and I'm so over spending the weekends alone in bed. This isn't the fault of my job, I like the people there, I just want to create a life worth living outside of the office.

Here is an overview of my outfits from 2014.

Ah, the first comment...how exciting! You Tube...yes yes yes. Let us know when you do and I'll subscribe. I've become a bit addicted to the ASMR channels...check them out...think you'd be good in this area also. Depression is a shitty thing...wish I could wave a magic wand for you, but I can't. I've suffered in the past but was lucky to get relief from some meds and counselling. Meditating helped me too...just being able to observe the negativity that was playing in my head. But the main thing that's helped me is a deep compassion for myself....funny I could feel for others but couldn't for myself...but it's been a long process. Much love to you sweetie.

I hope you have a happy new year Imogen!

You are a beautiful, stylish and stunning lady and you deserve nothing but the best - I hope 2015 brings you nothing but good things! :)

You have so many goals to achieve - but you can do it, easily! :) Your blog readers like me can cheer you on! Are you on facebook? There are a few Aussie blogger groups there that have wonderful advice too! Blog Chicks is a good one!

Youtube is easy - I just use my camera to record videos and upload, no editing needed! :) You can always film over again if you don't get it first time, I've always just done that so I don't have to edit. it would be great to share your handbag or shoe or dress collection! You can see my channel here, if it helps :) http://bit.ly/AFByoutube

All the best for 2015!

Imogen... I think this is the first time I have seen you wear pants... I must have missed that post... you look lovely... Of course I adore all your dresses, you have such a cute and unique style of your own...

Instead of running, why not take up walking... with a little jogging... I have wanted to work up to running eventually but I can tell you this, there is much less chance of injury with walking and believe me, I walk fast... :)

I do hope this year is better for both you and me...2014 was a tough year for me too... I wish much happiness and joy for you this year... let's both make some changes so it will be a good one xox <3

I was a depressed mess since I was born until 2005. I was angry all the time because of what happened in my past. I had no friends. I thought the world was out to get me sometimes. One day I decided that I was going to pray about it. I went to my closet and I started praying. The prayer turned into sobbing, and the sobbing turned into screaming. I really felt that God was telling me to let it all out.He took away my pain and gave me peace. His grace is sufficient for me. You have to believe in something, something greater than yourself!I don't know why you feel so depressed sometimes, but remember one thing, "When you are down to nothing, God is up to something."

I liked your thoughts for the new year, Imogen. About UTube.....sometimes if I need a good song for my post, I will go on UTube and search for the version that I like best.

Enjoyed browsing through all your outfits for the year. I remember most of them, and the blush dress, oh that's a beauty.

I hope you have peace in the new year, Imogen. That's the most important thing for a happy life. So, my wish for you is peace and lots of love in the new year.

Panty Buns said...

Wow! That would be wonderful seeing your hauls and OOTDs on your youtube channel. I haven't joined Google+ so I can't make comments there, but I do have a YouTube channel myself (https://www.youtube.com/user/misterpantybuns) so when I'm logged in I can subscribe and "like" your videos, adding them to my "Liked videos" playlist.
Getting a YouTube channel is easy. Getting it set up the way you want it with right proportioned large dimensions of the graphic for the header is more difficult. I love the header you have on your blog.
It's nice to add the links to your blog for the "about" page, add playlists, etcetera. I don't edit my videos as you can tell if you watch them - lurching in and out of the frame, verbal stuttering and bloopers etcetera. I take my photos and videos using a tripod with a regular point and shoot digital camera. I could use a time delayed start, but if you have your hubby take the videos you don't need that feature. I upload my videos via the USB port into my Mac's iPhoto with the cable that comes with the camera. I can then duplicate the videos in iPhoto, add a title to the duplicate, and then export to the Movies folder and then upload them to YouTube or wherever else. I haven't tried using iDVD or iMovie. The suffix should have something like .AVI. There is a lot of editing software out there and a lot of different kinds of cameras. I've thought about getting a digital video camera.
Feeling less depressed is a huge item. I found out I had a vitamin B-12 deficiency, so making sure I took the supplement helped. Taking one day at a time helps too.
Exercise? WOW do I ever need that. Good resolution!
I think you're doing great with your blogging. !,000 followers? I think I have 50 at the moment on my blog at http://www.full-brief-panties.blogspot.com/.
The saving more money is a hard one especially for fashion and beauty bloggers. I think reselling outfits (some bloggers have Etsy shops), advert revenues and sponsored posts might help? It's easy to get carried away buying outfits.
A number of bloggers I follow do thrifting.
You've had quite an odyssey what with being out of work, studying, graduating, and then having your work become a large part of your life. I hope you find the right balance for success and happiness.
I LOVE all the beautiful outfits you styled in 2014! All the colours and feminine designs are wonderful! I'd find it very difficult trying to choose just on favourite.
This year I'm hoping to nibble away at my "to-do list and hopefully eat better and get more exercise - and if I'm lucky average one blog post a month.

Corinne said...

Good luck in your blogging goals! It's hard to get GFC followers now I think as a lot of blogs don't have it, bloglovin seems to be taking over now!

Movie maker or iMovie are free with PC and Mac and they are okay editors, although they are a bit clunky. I bought Sony Vegas Studio when I started doing youtube videos which is so much easier to use and there are many more options, I think it only cost about £20 and I'd recommend it if you want to start some youtube videos!

You have the most fabulous collection of retro-inspired outfits, dear Imogen...and a very pretty smile, too!! I'm so sorry to hear that you've had such a long struggle with depression, but it's SO important to keep up with your treatment. Unfortunately, there isn't a cookie-cutter solution for the challenges that you face...but exercise can definitely help; maybe there was a sport that you loved as a child that you'd like to try again?! I'm not a YouTube follower, I'm afraid, so I can't offer any advice there other than "go for it!!" :)

I wish you well with your goals. Use! I'm a Youtuber I don't make videos for now and I deleted mine but youtube is a community of friends. I see all youtubers as people i can relate to. People like superwoman, zoella, shelly b eniang, lilyofnigeria, Clifford owusu, anna Akana, and jacksgap. They're so many! Have you ever tried praying to God when depressed? It helps. There's this peace that flows through your heart. You don't need to start all prayer warrior. Just get an empty chair, Welcome the Holy Spirit to your room and start talking. Don't keep anything back. Tell God everything. You can Google bible verses for how you feel and read them. 2013 was a terrible year in my life and I almost committed suicide due to depression. My grades were terrible upon my effort at school. But God saved me early last year. He promised to never fail or leave me. He'll do the same for you. I love you, keep rocking. Ps I'm a final year Law student.
