My ace of hearts bag which I received courtesy of OASAP is currently my favorite bag. I've read on a number of blogs recently, to the frustration of many, about the tendency of bloggers to positively review items which they received for free often to the point where reviews can no longer be relied upon. However, I can assure you this is not the situation here. Even though I did receive this clutch bag from OASAP, it's so amazing that I'd definitely recommend purchasing it and I even want to get it in black. I don't know if you can tell from the pictures but it's slightly larger than most; when I opened the package I immediately commented on the more practical size. While all clutch bags are still relatively small, this one can at least fit my makeup, money and phone. It's very refreshing since there are way too many clutch bags around that can't even fit a phone. Also, how adorable is the design? It's so sweet and beautiful.
It feels like I'm just carrying around one big playing card all day.
Is it just me or is this outfit a little Alice in Wonderland inspired? Both the ace of hearts bag and the Picnic in Paris dress remind me Alice. This dress is the newest addition to my collection and is from Kitten D'Amour. As I mentioned in my post here I just love the silhouette of the Kitten D'Amour dresses; the full skirt and fully lined netted underlay is difficult to replicate elsewhere. But Kitten D'Amour dresses are so expensive and I can't afford more of them so I really want to think of alternatives. I wish I'd known about this design when I had the opportunity for clothes to be custom made in Hong Kong. Then I could have sent this dress over and had it replicated. I also love the combination of patterns in this dress; the touch of polka dots is perfect against the dominant cherry/daisy print. Also if you look carefully, the blue section in the bodice is a small check print. The one issue I worry about with Kitten D'Amour is seeing someone else in the same dress. It hasn't happened yet but a few people have recognised where it's from. Although each piece is made in limited quantity at Kitten D'Amour, the fact that it's an Australian brand with a very specific style, makes it an obvious choice if one is in the market for the particular dresses it offers. The most frequent question I get asked on my blog (and the question often arises outside the blogging world too) is about my hair. I feel like I'm always needing to justify the fact that I have it in the same style every single day. The reason is because my hair is extremely thin and I don't have a lot of it. It's also the most awful texture; not straight and not curly, it's so random it just does it's own thing. My current hairstyle makes it look like I have much more hair than I actually do and makes me feel much better about myself. Before I discovered my current hairstyle I always felt my hair was letting down the rest of my appearance. The previous style in had (you may remember I had my hair cut into a bob in the earlier days of my blog) required too much maintenance since I had to straighten it every single day. In the end my hair couldn't take it and became so destroyed from the heat. It also took too long- there is no way I have time to straighten my hair every morning before work as I am always in such a rush. The stress of wearing my hair down isn't worth it and it makes me feel really self conscious. On average I'd probably wear my hair down once or twice a year (this is often for Melbourne Cup or if I go to the races and I'm wearing a flower crown and feel like there's already too much sticking off the top of my head to also justify a high bun). But no you probably will never see me with my hair down. To be honest I can't understand the judgement I get around my hair. If having the same hairstyle each day makes me feel better about myself then I believe it's worth it. Recently I came across a resource called the Handbag Style Guide by Rue La La. It has a great deal of interesting and important information about handbags including a history of different styles through the decades, a description of iconic designer labels, tips on how to care for handbags and an outline of the different types of handbags. I definitely recommend you take a look at the site.
This got me thinking about my own handbag collection. I thought I'd start off by showing you my handbag essentials. Inspired by the typical 'what's in your bag' post, I often find it interesting to see what others carry in their bags.

The Clutch
I love clutch bags; they are so adorable and sweet. Of course they aren't the most practical of bags (I even have a couple that can't even fit in a iphone inside) but I try and make them work as much as possible. They are great for a night out and sometimes I take them into work in addition to another bag. I have so many clutch bags and here are some of them:
The Tote
I definitely believe the tote is the most popular type of bag out there; that's no surprise given it's so useful, practical, large and versatile. I especially love my tote bags by Guess and I can never resist adding a new one to my collection. I favour the tote bag over the hobo style bag because I like the structure of the tote. The Pouchette
This style of bag appears to be what I would call a flap bag. I was very interested to read that the shape is inspired by a loaf of bread tucked under a French girl's arm (how crazy is that?!) I don't have too many pouchettes but I do like the style and would definitely like to add more to my collection. I love that it reminds me of many of the classic Chanel bags. Here are a few of mine:

Hi everyone. Unfortunately this is my last post with the gorgeous, beautiful, pretty, exciting and perfect Chanel bag. I would like to borrow her again but for now she is back with her rightful owner. The opportunity to borrow a real Chanel bag for a couple of weeks was very dangerous for my future bank account; it has made me want my very own Chanel bag ore than ever before. I maintain hope that I will have my very own special treasure one day (even if it is extremely far into the future). My dress is another piece which my friend had custom made for me in Hong Kong. Like my yellow coat from my last post, this piece is perfect for me and holds the excitement of being designed exactly the way I wanted it. As I mentioned, I used the opportunity to have items made that I've searched for over the years but have never been able to find. I am a massive fan of velvet and always believe there isn't enough of it around. It is frustrating that velvet only ever seems to come in black, navy blue and burgundy (as much as I love my dresses in those shades, a little variety would be desirable too). I adore the elegant and regal feel of velvet and I believe those elements are intensified in emerald green. Wow. There are so many styling possibilities for this dress. I especially love the combination of Chanel and velvet; to me it seems very elegant and classy...There's not much else to report here. My life is about work, work and work right now. It's a good job I like this place so much.

As you can see, here is my lovely tartan skirt from Kitten D'Amour. It's one of the pieces, out of my entire wardrobe, that I'm most pleased that bought. I'd been looking for a tartan skirt for many years and even though it's relatively new I've already worn it many times. I love the pink design and the great quality. The ruffle design is a really sweet finish and makes it the perfect skirt for me. It reminds me of the movie Clueless, although I don't have a matching tartan jacket which I can pair it with. I am also wearing a polka dot shirt which you can't really see from the pictures. It came in the same order which I made from Kitten D'Amour. I often find that pair pieces together in an outfit, that I wouldn't normally, which arrived in the same order. It's probably because I like to try on my new items all at once and then realise I like the way they look together. Since it's still cold here I added a polka dot cardigan. That's how the polka dot and tartan pattern mixing came about. In saying that I can see the first signs of spring because wen I started to take photos in this location only a couple of weeks ago there were no pretty flowers.
In other news, this week marks exactly one year since I started at my job. The reason I mention this is because I can definitely say it is the best thing that has ever happened to me. It has given me a life at a time when I felt there wasn't any point to anything. I've never felt such a sense of belonging and fitting in as I do there, I have made really good friends which means a lot to me. So many things have happened which I never thought were possible, I never thought I would be capable of using my law degree or having a career. There have been few things in life I've ever been as enthusiastic about as this job (I even now put it up there with my love for fashion). My positive experiences at work were also the reason why I enrolled in The College of Law. I was never planning to go because I thought I would fail and wasn't good enough. Now a year later I finished my Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from The College of Law, my law degree from university doesn't feel like a waste of time and I'm about to be admitted as a lawyer. There is no better feeling in the world than achieving what you never thought possible.

Today I have my new dress, which I received courtesy of OASAP, to show you. I also own this dress in purple which I posted here . Often, when I find a piece I love from OASAP, I order it in multiple colours; I can have true confidence in my order. Also I've wanted a white dress for so long. A white dress is so clean, fresh, classy and beautiful. From what I've observed, the little white dress is starting to take on the properties of the little black dress or the little red dress; it's a must have piece. I look forward to spring when I can wear this little white dress in all its glory. Today I had to make it more appropriate for winter. I like the way this combination came together; it's one of the rare occasions where I didn't give it much thought but it seemed to work. I knew I wanted to wear a piece which had been under utilised in recent times; the cardigan (and bag actually) fit that criteria as it's been sitting around in my wardrobe for far too long. I adore heart print and rainbow hearts are even better! The star fish earrings pictured above are from the same OASAP order. They are one of my favourite pairs since they are super adorable and incorporate two of my favourite aspects- rainbow colours and pearls. The same goes for my USA flag print bag. It's so unique and the beaded detailing is really beautiful. I've had this bag since I was about 14 or 15 years old. At that time, and for many years, I was super obsessed with the USA. I loved American accents especially, knew a lot about the country and desperately wanted to visit. So my aunt bought me this bag for Christmas one year. It was really thoughtful and is special to me today since it brings back so many memories. I still haven't been to the USA but I would very much like to (if I can ever get past my fear of plans and my inability to save money). We can also see this bag as a contribution to all the Independence Day inspired looks I have been seeing on blogs lately. I did wear green on St Patrick's Day so that's only fair! On another note, my blog seems to give an unrealistic view of the weather in Sydney. It appears from my pictures that it's pretty warm here. While it's a warmer winter than usual and we probably don't know the true meaning of the season in Australia, I sure think it's freezing walking to the bus stop at 7.15 in the mornings for work. I'm mostly seen in my pink coat and a scarf these days. even at the office I even had to resort to taking an electric blanket in to work it's so cold; it increases the motivation to go to work a little.
