Wedding Photos

Hi everyone! I hope you are all having an enjoyable holiday season. I can't believe it was raining so heavily for Christmas day here. It just seems so uncharcateristic of a summer Christmas in Sydney; it was a fun day nevertheless. I'll write more about that later. I have many outfits to post from my Christmas celebrations but I don't have them ready due to the rainy weather and the fact that my memory cards seem to have disappeared while moving house. So for now I will show you the next part of my wedding photos. These were taken during and directly after the ceremony which was held in the scenic gardens of Milton Park.

It was actually very scary walking out into such a large crowd; I'm not used to being the centre of attention.

We decided to have a sand ceremony where Rydog and I poured different coloured sand into a container. Each grain of sand is supposed to symbolise our individual experiences which have brought us together; the mixing of the sand symbolises a life which is now interconnected. I thought it would be a fun idea and different sort of ceremony.

I'm not really the kind of person who displays public affection so I'm surprising myself by putting this on the Internet.

Since I LOVE butterflies we had a butterfly release at the end of the ceremony.

The butterflies viciously attacked Rydog while everyone else laughed!

Wedding Photos

I'm back! I didn't expect to have such a long break and I have missed blogging immensely but my life has just been so busy and chaotic lately. I got married on the 1st of December and then we moved house the week after. I will write more about moving out in one of my upcoming posts because it has been a very significant change for me. I definitely underestimated how long it would take to move out; it was a much bigger task than anticipated and we are still unpacking and had to wait awhile for our furniture to arrive but it is slowly coming together. We only just got Internet in our apartment so that has made it impossible to write a blog post until now.  I thought I would start by showing some of my wedding photos. The wedding was an amazing weekend away and I enjoyed every moment of it. After over two years of planning I am so sad that it was over incredibly fast. We got married in the Southern Highlands which is an hour and a half south of Sydney, at a place called Milton Park. I've posted about Milton Park a few times during the year such as here . It is a beautiful country estate and was just perfect for the occassion. I wanted to get married outside of Sydney so it would be very special and different from any other sort of experience. It is also an area of significance because I frequently visited the Southern Highlands with my parents when I was a child. My dress was the first aspect of the wedding that I ever chose. I knew right from the start that I wanted a princess style look; as soon as I saw the dress I fell in love with it so I bought it over two years before the wedding day.I wanted it to stand out and be a sparkly as possible! Today I'll leave you with the photos that were taken before the wedding ceremony.

Taking a Break

I just wanted to let you all know that I am taking a break from blogging. It will only be a short break; I'll be back in one or two weeks, but I am too busy right now with wedding preparation, finding a place to live and getting a job. I am getting married on Saturday. I'll have a lot of news and photos for when I return.

Outfit

On Saturday night I had the opportunity to wear my peacock dress for the first time for my hens night. It is probably my favourite dress at the moment; I love the strapless design, the peacock pattern and the colour scheme.  We decided to have a morocan themed party on Saturday; which was somewhat inspired by the second Sex and the City movie. It was such a cool idea, a little bit different too, and all the decorations and detailings were so well thought out. We also had a beautician so I really enjoyed having a massage. I had a fun night; I really wish it didn't have to end so quickly. I hope I can get some more photos of the night from others which I will post at a later stage. During the day, while I was instructed to keep out of the house so the decorartions would be a surprise, I had my makeup done professionally and got eyelash extensions for the wedding. That was a great experience and a nice treat; I love the thickness of the eyelashes.

The countdown is really on. I'm getting married in just under two weeks.

Item of the Week 026

I finished my law degree on Tuesday which is very exciting news. I absolutely cannot believe it; after five years at university I thought it would never come to an end. I wanted to quit so many times, I hated it so very much that I couldn't be happier it's over. I have no idea what I'm going to do with my life now; I have no jobs or further study lined up and I'm not at all interested in the law, but that's ok because for now just having a law degree is a big enough achievement. I am so surprised that I got through it; I never thought I'd be able to. I'm just an average girl and I feel so out of my league with law degrees so it is very amazing for me. In celebration of completing my degree Rydog bought my this incredibly exciting peacock dress that I've had my eye on for awhile now. It's from Dotti, as are most of my dresses this season; their range of dresses is unprecedented this year. It's my new favourite; I wish I could own everything in the store. I love the unique peacock print and the colours are really pretty together. I'm looking forward to wearing it for the first time which could well be this weekend.

Outfit

DSCN2865On Sunday Rydog and I had an afternoon tea to celebrate our upcoming wedding. I guess one might call it a kitchen tea but, since I don't like a lot of the traditions associated with weddings, we kept it somewhat unconventional. My parents organised it and went to so much effort for me. I especially loved the pretty little tea cups and the macaroons, cupcakes and sushi. We also receieved many gifts for the house. I used to think that household items were kind of boring but that is definitely not the case. I like all my household items to be as colourful and patterned as possible and so far I've got quite a collection of cool items.  It made me realise that there are other exciting items to spend my money on other than clothes and shoes. At the afternoon tea, my parents asked everyone to write some advice about married life. My mum's advice was for me to stop buying clothes. Whatever for?!?!

I bought this dress and cardigan awhile ago and I'd been saving them to wear today. It's interesting that I used to absolutely hate yellow but now I love it; I like how much of a statement a bright yellow cardigan can make. I love the sparkles on the cardigan too; they even matched my hairstyle which my mother in law kindly did for me. I'm planning to do a proper outfit post on my dress at a later stage; the back is interesting and I like the shape. I borrowed the shoes from my sister. We've both been in love with them ever since she bought them. I wish they were mine!

DSCN2856A rather uncharcateristic pose for little Julie. Rydog snapped a picture of her mid meow.
