Sheer Elegance Dress

On Saturday night I went to a Chinese restaurant with Rydog and his family for a birthday celebration. I had a fun night- the atmosphere was bright with singing and dancing and I was with people those company I thoroughly enjoy. It was the kind of night I needed after having a deep think about my life and feeling a little unsure of things in the few days leading up to the weekend.

I know this has not come across in my blog before but I am quite a philosophical person and I often sit for hours thinking and analysing past events and what motivates and drives individual behaviour. It is usually when I have lots of time like this university break that I feel this way and consider issues that are normally pushed aside and such an experience can be good and bad at the same time. I have identified areas that I want to change and I want to use my holidays to embark on a journey to improve certain things. While at the Chinese resaurant I received this message in my fortune cookie:

"To dare is to lose one's footing momentarily. To not dare is to lose oneself."

I like this message and I feel that it is particularly relevant to my life at the moment. My interpretation of this is about risk taking and stepping out of one's comfort zone in order to maximise life's benefits and to truly reveal one's self.I think that the presence of numerous fears, insecurities and indecisiveness can take a large toll on life and cause a narrowing of personal boundaries. It is difficult to change ways of life that have existed for a long time and to gain confidence but it is a journey that would be beneficial to undertake. By conquering fears and challenging one's self to overcome insecurities, happiness and greater fulfilment can be attained and this is something which I would like to work on this summer. I am aware that it is easier said than done so I am very open to suggestions on how to transform this thought into a reality.

I wore this oufit last week. It is also one of the dresses from my last modcloth order, it is called the Sheer Elegance Dress and it can be found here. I hope you can see the print well enough. It is a lovely, delicate floral design.

I am doing some Christmas shopping tomorrow. I actually haven't started yet!

Love your dress Imogen.

The message is loud and clear: Seize the day. Do not be afraid to fail, it's part of your journey.

One of my favorite quotes is similar,

"I would rather die on my feet than live on my knees,"

or something to that effect! I love the print on that dress...you look so cheerful!

That is a great quote. I think your interpretation is spot on. I'm at a place in my life right now where I think it would be extremely beneficial to challenge myself to overcome certain insecurities. It's something that tends to be difficult for me, but I'm going to give it another go! Small, gradual steps :)

That is such a pretty dress. You look great in it! I've been thinking about biting the bullet and ordering something from ModCloth after Christmas...
