Holiday Part 1

Merry Christmas!

I have a lovely Christmas day. I thoroughly enjoyed Christmas lunch at a hotel and I received some beautiful and generous gifts from Rydog and my family. The day went so fast and I can hardly believe it is almost over. I will post more about Christmas day soon once I organise my photos.

I am returning home from holidays tomorrow. I enjoyed the holiday more than I expected and it has been good for me but at the same time I am ready to go home. I have so many photos from my trip and I expect I will be posting and writing about this for quite a while. This set of pictures are from one day where we took a walk on the beach and went shopping. The weather has been so lovely and warm for most of the week and I was able to take many scenic photos.

The skirt I am wearing is from my last Modcloth order and is called the Gone Picknicking Skirt. I'm sorry for being behind in replying to comments but I will certainly do so in the next few days.

I hope everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable day.

Christmas Presents

I received some more Christmas presents last weekend from Rydog and his family. As I mentioned previously, I received them early because I won't be seeing the family this week since I am away on holidays. I didn't expect to receive any more gifts from them because I already receive the beautiful pearls so I am amazed by their generousity. I enjoy receiving gifts at various intervals and it seems to make Christmas extend for longer.

Although I will be with Rydog on Christmas day he decided to give me the lace shoes early. This was partially as a congratulatory gift for my university results which I would also like to share. I received a credit for tort law, distinction for information systems, distinction for criminal law and high distinction for organisational, planning and control. It is my best semester ever at university and I'm so pleased that my decision to try harder paid off. I have never received anything above a credit before so I am very surprised and happy with my results.

Today I arrived at my holiday destination. I survived the plane trip although it wasn't a pleasant trip because I had a headache for most of the flight and there was a technical difficulty which almost caused the plane to abort takeoff. But I guess it was good for me because I need to become more used to plane trips. I will post about the trip later this week.

Beach Night

Rydog made this picture for me called 'Beach Night' and it is inspired by the holiday that we are undertaking this Christmas. I like it because it represents a calm and peaceful serenity and provides a dreamy and mysterious atmosphere which gives some reassurance that everything will be fine. Although the holiday should be fun I admit that I do have some mixed feelings about being away for Christmas and reservations about plane travel. We are leaving on Monday.

I will blog once I arrive at our destination and I should have sufficient Internet access. I have a few things to show you including more Christmas presents that I received.

Sheer Elegance Dress

On Saturday night I went to a Chinese restaurant with Rydog and his family for a birthday celebration. I had a fun night- the atmosphere was bright with singing and dancing and I was with people those company I thoroughly enjoy. It was the kind of night I needed after having a deep think about my life and feeling a little unsure of things in the few days leading up to the weekend.

I know this has not come across in my blog before but I am quite a philosophical person and I often sit for hours thinking and analysing past events and what motivates and drives individual behaviour. It is usually when I have lots of time like this university break that I feel this way and consider issues that are normally pushed aside and such an experience can be good and bad at the same time. I have identified areas that I want to change and I want to use my holidays to embark on a journey to improve certain things. While at the Chinese resaurant I received this message in my fortune cookie:

"To dare is to lose one's footing momentarily. To not dare is to lose oneself."

I like this message and I feel that it is particularly relevant to my life at the moment. My interpretation of this is about risk taking and stepping out of one's comfort zone in order to maximise life's benefits and to truly reveal one's self.I think that the presence of numerous fears, insecurities and indecisiveness can take a large toll on life and cause a narrowing of personal boundaries. It is difficult to change ways of life that have existed for a long time and to gain confidence but it is a journey that would be beneficial to undertake. By conquering fears and challenging one's self to overcome insecurities, happiness and greater fulfilment can be attained and this is something which I would like to work on this summer. I am aware that it is easier said than done so I am very open to suggestions on how to transform this thought into a reality.

I wore this oufit last week. It is also one of the dresses from my last modcloth order, it is called the Sheer Elegance Dress and it can be found here. I hope you can see the print well enough. It is a lovely, delicate floral design.

I am doing some Christmas shopping tomorrow. I actually haven't started yet!

Christmas Tree

Like many other bloggers, I decided to show you some pictures of my Chirstmas tree and decorations. I admit that I often find constructing and decorating the tree quite boring but I like the end result. Some of the decorations I have had for a very long time so we have quite a collection now. The picture with my cat is actually from last year. I will miss her so much this year.

A few people have been asking what I am doing this Christmas. I will be going away on a beach holiday for five days with my family and Rydog. I hope we will have a good time but I absolutely hate travelling on planes and I usually miss home a lot even if its only for a short time. I will write more about this later. What are you all doing this Christmas?

These are some of the items I would like to have this Summer/for Christmas. I highly doubt I will buy or receive many of them because I have spent way too much money this year and most people I know think I already have too many clothes and shoes. I still enjoy making these wishlists just for fun.

Pearls

I received my first Christmas present on Saturday night! It is a beautiful set of pearl earings, a bracelet and necklace and it is from Rydog's parents. Anyone that knows me well is aware that I adore pearls and I have been wearing inexpensive plastic pearls for most of the year so the real things is an ideal gift for me.

I received this gift early because I will be away at Christmas with Rydog and my family. I'm going to miss Rydog's family this Christmas because I really feel like I have two families now.

Do-Si-Do Dress

I've been on holidays for a week now and it is truly the most amazing feeling to be free from study for the next three months and to be able to focus on other aspects of my life. Summer holidays are always fun here and there has been lovely, warm weather lately so I am really looking forward to the next few months. The highlight of last week was passing my driving test on Saturday to progress to a full licence. I've had my provisional licence for the last three years but it is so much better to be on this unrestricted licence and not to have any more driving tests in the future.
I wore this outfit to a BBQ last night. This is one of the dresses I bought in my last Modcloth order, it is called the Do-Si-Do Dress and you can find it here. I added a belt from Valleygirl, a hair bow and my shoes are Bonbons.
