Award

I received this lovely Kreativ Blogger award from Jennifer at I Know, Right? I love Jennifer's blog, its inspiring, original and always a good read. Thank you.

The winner must list seven interesting things about themself:
1. I was very involved in sports as a child, particularly competitive swimmer which I did until I was sixteen. I was reasonably successful at swimming and it was fun at the time. Now, I am quite the opposite, I don't exercise at all.
Photobucket
2. I have never been out of Australia. One of the reasons is because I hate planes.
3. I drink way too much coca-cola, usually everyday. It has become addictive. My favourite is vanilla coke.
4. I used to collect porcelain dolls when I was younger. I still have my collection of about twenty dolls, I just haven't added to it in a long time. This is Nicole, she is one of my favourites. Its too hard to photograph them all since some are in boxes at the moment.
Photobucket
5. People often think I look younger than I am and often I'm mistaken for someone who is seventeen.
6. I go to bed very late, usually around 2.00am. I hate it when I have to get up before 11.00am.
7. I have very long, natural nails. I am often asked how I get such long nails, but I don't do anything and I guess I am lucky. I would expect to have thicker, better hair since my nails are so strong, but unfortunately that is far from the case.

Aquarium

On Wednesday I went to the Aquarium. It was extremely busy and we had to wait about 40 minutes to get in. I haven't been to the Aquarium in a very long time so I thought it would be interesting and the chance to do something different. The main attractions were stingrays, dugongs, platypus and various types of fish. I wanted to find the catfish but I think we missed them.

The aquarium wasn't as exciting as I expected. I thought there would be more animals and it was too busy to fully enjoy it. After the Aquarium we went shopping and I bought a floral dress. I probably won't be able to wear it until spring and I really should stop spending money. It was fun to look at some different shops but I could tell that Rydog was quite bored towards the end.

Outfit

I've been looking for a polka dot skirt for the last few months and I finally found one- in my sister's wardrobe It was a skirt that she used to wear to ballroom dancing and she doesn't wear it now so she gave it to me. I've had so much trouble finding one of these skirts in the shops and I can't believe there was one in our house the whole time. I love the flair on the skirt and how I can wear it really high to make it look like a dress. It reminds me of American Apparel skirts. I don't think these photos do the skirt justice and I had some trouble with the sunlight while taking them. This is probably my favourite outfit at the moment and I'd like it wear it with high heels for a night out. It was a reasonably warm day today considering that it is the middle of winter. I was only a bit cold wearing this top.

University results were released this week and I received three credits. Its a lot better than I expected, especially since I thought I would fail some subjects. I am very pleased and its such a relief. I am still waiting for the results of contract law. I went shopping today and I bought a new skirt and top. There isn't much I like in the shops at the moment, but today I found a couple of things in the children's department. They are reasonably stylish and not childish at all. I will probably show you my purchases in my next outfit post.

Photos

Today I was looking through some old photos, which I often enjoy doing. They always bring back so many memories and remind me how many things have changed, yet there are always some things that remain the same. I found this beautiful picture of me and Nana. It makes me miss her but its always nice to have. Sorry for the bad quality of some of the pictures.
Photobucket

I also found some pictures of my childhood. I'm always surprised how many we have, my parents must have been taking pictures almost non stop! I selected a few to share here. I think this post is quite relevant for me because lately I have been thinking about how fast the last few years have gone. It seems as though one moment I was a child and then I was not. Sometimes I wish that time would stand still for a while so I could reflect on things but life always continues.
Photobucket
As a child, I was so easily entertained. There were always fun things to do, which is quite a contrast to now since I get bored easily. In the first picture I am the one wearing the goggles. I loved playing in the pool and also I did competitive swimming until I was sixteen. I used to find it fun and I had some success from those many years of swimming competitions. In the second picture I am on the left. This picture represents me well because probably my favourite activity was to play with my dolls and soft toys. Even today I still have a large collection of them around my room. In the third picture I am on the right and I have so many memories of playing with my sister and my cousin. We were all so close but we are such different people now. In the fourth picture I am the one with the very nice long hair and it was my 8th birthday sleepover party. I went to numerous parties back then.

Photobucket
I liked to dress up and I went to so many costume parties. This first picture was from a mermaid party and Mum made me the costume. I was the only one with a red wig. The next picture is one of the many beach holidays I went on as a child. I always found that fun. In the third picture I was at a park and I can't believe how much fun children get from parks. They used to be the best. Even today, I enjoy an occassional turn on the swings. I wish I could turn those leggings in the last picture into a skirt. I have been looking for a polka dot skirt for sometime now, without any success.

Photobucket
I also remember having very lovely clothes as a child. Since I am interested in fashion and my blog is mainly about that, I thought it would be appropriate to make some sort of comment on fashion. I still love these dresses. With slight modifications and if they were in my size, I would probably still wear some of them today. They are better than a lot of the clothes that are in the shops now and I love the lace detailing. Its also surprising how light my hair was in the first picture, very different from how dark I have dyed it in the last few years.

Photobucket
I enjoying searching through these photos. I will probably do it again sometime since I didn't look at all the photos and there may be some better ones around. There are some things I miss about being a child. I miss being so easily entertained, not having to worry about anything and still being able to achieve so many things in life. Since a lot of bad things have happened this year, it is tempting to want to go back to an earlier time. But there are some things that I would never like to go back to, so in other ways its good that time has moved on.

RIP Nana

I'm sorry for not posting over the last week. The main reason for that is because my Nana died this week and blogging certainly hasn't been my main priority. Nana developed cancer at the beginning of the year and her condition deteriorated very quickly throughout this year. This week she had a virus so I think she died of a combination of that and the cancer. It has been a difficult few months and I can't believe she is gone. Even though she was sick we expected her to have a few more weeks. I think I'm still in a partial state of disbelief. Its a very strange feeling I've had this week. I feel as though I should be doing something to help the situation but I don't know what. It doesn't feel right doing fun things and going about my normal life. Nana was an amazing woman. She had such personality and she was a fun person to be around. I have so many memories of spending time with her both as a child and over the last few years. I loved her very much and I will miss her.

This is a picture of the flowers and bear that Rydog sent me this week.

I hope I will be able to return to blogging soon. I have missed it and it will probably help take my mind off things. I will try and take some outfit pictures over the weekend and I will reply to all your comments in the next couple of days.

Outfit

I had trouble deciding what to wear today. In the end I chose a skirt that I haven't worn in a couple of months because I wasn't sure if I liked it. After wearing it today I wonder why I ever thought that and now I believe it suits my style. Also, I am seriously considering purchasing some clothes online. I'm becoming frustrated since I can't find anything that I like in the shops so maybe the postage will be worth it.
