Outfit

I love my pink dress! It is undoubtedly one of my favourite dresses I have ever owned. I believe it extremely accurately represents my style; the gorgeous pink colour, classic vintage cut, floral detailing and the overall girly-ness are the epitome of what I adore. I truly believe there should be more hot pink clothes around especially dresses; pink is the most beautiful colour for a dress! I also wish there were more dresses with this shape and cut. This was one of the last items I purchased before imposing a spending ban. I also consider it one of the best bargains I've ever found. In my opinion, $50 for a quality Review dress is very reasonable especially since the original price was slightly over $250. This is only the third Review dress I've ever owned so I was very happy and excited when it became mine. On Wednesday we experienced some lovely warm weather for a few hours during the day. I thought it was the perfect opportunity to wear and blog my pink Review dress. I was certainly overdressed for the day but I never see that as a problem. I can't wait until spring so I can wear my pretty dresses without the need for jackets or cardigans.

I am so incredibly excited about the Olympics right now. I was supposed to watch the opening ceremony with my parents and my sister (& and Juliette Miracle, of course) at 6am on Saturday morning but I fell asleep! I hope my family at least enjoyed my presence in the room even though I can barely remember anything from the opening ceremony. I was very happy to hear that a few of my favourite tennis players such as Radwanska and Sharapova were chosen to carry the flags for their respective nations though. I am most excited for the swimming and tennis. I'm planning to watch every single race of the swimming even if that means crazier sleeping times than usual;  I'm trying to stay up for the first day of finals starting at 4.30am this morning. I'll be very tired by the end of the week but it's so worth it. My interest in the swimming comes from my own background in competitive swimming; I miss those days very much.

I wish the camera focused on me rather than the leaves in the 5th photo. I still think it's a cool picture though.

Review Spring Collection

Review, one of my favourite brands, has recently opened an online store and released the Spring Collection 2012. The thought of the warmer spring weather makes me very happy and excited; I miss wearing my sleeveless/short sleeved dresses and I'm so over the cold weather right now. I love the collection from Review; primarily because of the lace, bright colours, stripes, polka dots and the beautiful cut of the dresses. My favourite looks are definitely the green dresses and the colourful skirt but in reality, I wish I could own all of the clothes featured here. Unfortunately I probably won't ever own any because of the importance of savings right now. Also Review is generally out of my price range unless it is on sale but you never know what could happen!  I found the use of the belts as headbands an interesting concept; it's cool but weird at the same time. What do you think of the Review Spring Collection?

Outfit

I felt very brave wearing this outfit yesterday; despite the recent and overwhelming popularity of colour blocking, I still don't think everyone would have the confidence to pull off this much colour. I certainly received a few stares from strangers while wearing this outfit (but whose to say they were negative rather than positive; maybe they all really liked my outfit!). It's interesting how I have absolutely no confidence in most areas of life but when it comes to fashion I would pretty much have the confidence to wear anything. I'm overall very happy with my style and my look but I'm not happy with much else in my life. Similarly, I frequently stand out in 'real life' by wearing bolder pieces than the average person but I always frustratingly fade into the background in most other ways. I guess you could say that fashion reflects the way I wish I was in all other areas of my life; I would love to be more confident, happy, exciting and colourful.

This week I was able to post one extra outfit than usual; I thought I was an excellent blogger until I realised that my last two outfits are ridiculously similar. The Guess cardigan paired with a green/teal dress or skirt means I didn't provide as much outfit inspiration or versatility as I would have liked. I even featured the exact same bag! Oh well. It's funny how I didn't realise at the time. For once I am not wearing a hair bow! How miraculous!

Outfit

My pink crop cardigan from Guess is one of my more recent puchases and one of the best bargains I've ever found. I was so surprised when it was on sale for $22; I usually don't even go into Guess because it is too expensive and for now I can only dream of owning one of their beautiful but pricey bags. The little gold buttons on this cardigan are so sweet and I love the detailing of 'Guess' inscribed on each one. The main reason I like this cardigan is because it is crop. I am always frustrated by the perpetual absence of crop cardigans in the shops; I find that the longer cardigans don't look very good with my dresses and high waisted skirts. Whenever I see a crop cardigan (which is almost never) I snap it up immediately. I just don't understand why they are so rare!  It's annoying because if I don't want to wear a heavy trench coat then I only have this red cardigan to wear which is why so many of my outfits involve red. My wardrobe is really only appropriate for summer. I am very pleased to have my pink crop Guess cardigan. I thought I would pair it with my teal skater skirt which I posted here for a colour blocking effect. The stripes added a touch of pattern; I usually like to have at least some pattern in my outfits. For once I didn't wear red lipstick; pink was a much better match for this outfit. This is a casual outfit I wore to lunch today.

I seriously cannot believe that there are only two more weeks of holidays. I know I say it every time but this, without a doubt, has been the fastest holidaysof my entire life. Despite feeling more bored than usual, I certainly don't want to return to university so soon. I have too much to organise this term with the wedding, studying, sorting out my  career and finding a place to live that I need more time. I found out today that I passed all my subjects for last semster so I officially have only one term left until I finish my law degree. This is truly incredible. It's strange to think that this will be my last ever semester at university after almost five years. I'm amazed that I've come this far. I'm just an average girl and I almost have a law degree; it is unbelievable. I also have one less subject than usual this semester which makes me very happy and will hopefully take off some of the pressure.

Juliette Princess Miracle

Unfortunately there hasn't been much of an opportunity to take outfit pictures this week so I will leave you with some pictures of Juliette Princess Miracle instead. I mean, she is much more beautiful and attractive to look at, right? Everytime I create these sorts of posts I find that Juliette Miracle has managed to get herself into even crazier positions than the time before. Juliette is truly incredible and very special. There are no words that could possibly explain the extent of my love for her. She is absolutely perfect in every way.

Item of the Week 022

I am very excited to show you my wedding shoes which arrived in the mail last week; I've never displayed anything wedding related on my blog before so I thought it was about time I gave you a preview. All credit goes to my mum for finding these shoes. She even paid for them which I greatly appreciate. One afternoon, a number of months ago, I was watching the shopping channel with my mum and these incredible sparkly shoes were for sale. We both admired the shoes; I thought they were perfect and would fit in so well with the theme of my wedding. But since they were over $200 and the wedding was still almost a year away at that point, I never seriously considered buying them. I actually even forgot about these beautiful shoes in the following months. Then, very recently, my mum informed me that the shoes were on sale; TVSN was having a major clearance and they were reduced to $45. Can you believe $45? That's insane! I went on the TVSN website and was surprised to see that my size was the only size left (these shoes and I were meant to be together, right?). The incredible price, coupled with the flexible return options meant I had nothing to lose in ordering them. After placing my order the shoes were sold out; I literally purchased the last pair. Within a few days my shoes had arrived and they were stunning. They fit well and are so pretty and sparkly. They are exactly what I wanted and I couldn't be happier with them. What a bargain! They fit the wedding theme; crystals and sparkles are a major element and my bridesmaid's shoes, which are black, have the same crystals on the heel. I had thought about purchasing brightly coloured wedding shoes but I came to the conclusion that my wedding is one of the only occassions where I can get away with shoes like this!

Thank you so much for your comments on my last post. I really appreciate your kind and helpful words. It means a lot having so many wonderful friends that understand. I actually feel so much better right now. On Saturday Rydog and I went to view some potential rental properties. We are not planning to move out for a few more months but I want to be prepared and have a clear idea of what is available. You can never be too organised with this sort of thing, right? The rental market is fairly dismal; everything is so small and in less than desirable condition. I'm going to find it hard to adjust because I am used to living in lovely spacious homes. I don't understand why people don't take care of rental properties; sure tenants don't own the place but if I were a tenant I'd still like to maintain the property to a high standard so it was nice while I was living there. I actually wish I'd viewed rental properties four years ago; the reality of the situation probably would have motivated me to save for all the years leading up to now. However, Saturday was a positive experience in many ways. I genuinely enjoyed looking around; I have always had an interest in real estate and I find it fun looking inside various apartment complexes and imagining what life might be like there. It is still early days; I have to remind myself of the possibility that something better might come up.

Outfit

I've mentioned a couple of times before that my outfits are usually fairly well planned; it is a rare occassion when I quickly put together random items and everything just seems to fall into place. However, this outfit was an exception. As I explained here, this dress is my go to outfit when I don't know what to wear. On Tuesday I experienced an 'I have nothing to wear day'.' Since it was very cold outside I decided to add my red jumper (yes, another outfit involving red) since it is wool and is perfect for such conditions.  Then I thought I'd wear my small blue hair flower as a change from the larger traditional white bow that I usually wear. I wasn't sure whether this all matched and it seemed like a fairly average outfit at that point. It wasn't until I added the shoes that everything came together. I love the end result; it is probably one of my better outfits. I haven't worn these shoes in awhile and I was surprised by the perfect colour match between the shoes and the hair flower.

I hope you are all having an enjoyable week. Unfortunately I am sick; my throat and head hurt very much. I always seem to be unwell at some point during the winter holidays. It is very frustrating. Lets just hope it won't be as bad as last year. As a result I've had a very relaxing week of catching up on television (particularly Offspring which is the best TV show ever!) and watching the tennis. My ridiculous holiday sleeping patterns fit in well with the schedule of Wimbledon; I am always awake at 3 or 4am to watch the important matches these days. However, the rain delays are very annoying; please get some better weather!!!

I am starting to become extremely bored these holidays. Of course it is better than being at university so I shouldn't really complain but I haven't experienced this since I was in high school. I usually have more than enough interesting activities planned to occupy myself during the holidays.  As usual the lengthy free time has caused me to think deeply about my life. Its just so stupid how the best times of my life usually turn out to be so depressing; I always worry about issues that I don't even have the time to think about during the university semester. This time I am so annoyed at myself for my spending habits over the last few years. I had so many opportunities to save money and I wasted it by purchasing a ridiculous amount of clothes, going out for lunch and dinner too frequently and generally being careless with money. Last year I earned double the weekly income that I do now and I spent so much of it on Modcloth. I love my clothes but I should have been more sensisble. I always justified my decisions based on the fact that university was depressing and stressful so I should buy a treat to make myself feel better. Now I realise that these were just excuses that most certainly fail to justify my actions.  Also, I am so annoyed with myself for failing to get a job over the last few years. The only job I've ever had is working at my mother in law's company and for so many of my years at university I didn't work at all; I feel like such a loser. All those years of lost income are so stupid and I have no experienced; this year when I've actually tried to get a job I've had no success. I always used the excuse that I was a law student and didn't need a job because everything would work out once I had a degree. But almost everyone else in my degree has a job so that can hardly be an acceptable justification.

The reason why it affects me so much at the moment is because Rydog and I need to get our own place at the end of the year since we are getting married. We are not in a position to buy a unit but I believe we would be if I had been more sensible. All it would have taken is for me to have some constant employment in the past. I feel terrible that I let myself down. The rental market in the suburb I want to live in is getting more expensive all the time. Plus renting with a cat is next to impossible; I'm getting rejections left right and centre when I mention Juliette. (It really is very sad because I see her as my child and so much more than a pet!). It's so stressful; I'm terrified that it will get to the end of the year and I will have no where suitable to go. At least the realities of life have forced me to commit to my spending ban; even the thought of buying new clothes right now makes me feel very guilty. So many people keep telling me to get over my past mistakes and deal with the current situation. I totally understand that I can't change the past but it is still hard. Moving on and feeling better is easier said than done. It takes time to forgive myself. It's interesting because I felt really low before coming on my blog tonight. But now I've spent some time telling you about my problems I feel much better. The thought of spending the night reading other blogs and engaging in the online world has the same impact.

In other news, my wedding shoes arrived in the mail this week. It was very exciting and I am so happy with them. The shoes are so sparkly and absolutely incredible. I will show them to you in my next post.
