Favourite Beauty/Makeup Products

Hi everyone, I've tried a number of beauty product for the first time recently and added a few of them to my favourites list:

Too Faced Melted Violet
I discovered the Melted range from Too Faced a few months ago at Mecca Maxima. I have a number of Melted lip colours now but the Violet version is most definitely my favourite. It's such a unique and beautiful shade. I don't see too many purple shades and, when I do, they can be too dark. However, this is undoubtedly the most beautiful colour ever. It's also a good texture as I prefer gloss instead of matte. As a bonus, the packaging is sweet too. Some of the colours in this range don't stay on the lips particularly well and end up on my face. Luckily this isn't the case for Melted Violet.

Miss Dior
I've never owned a Dior fragrance before and obviously they can be rather pricey. However, there was a 50% off sale at Priceline a few weeks ago so I thought it was the perfect opportunity to add Miss Dior to my perfume collection. Priceline has some amazing sales; if you wait long enough, most things will come on sale. I'm not great at describing scents so I won't try but it's one of my favourite fragrances. It's really light and beautiful.

Soap and Glory Rich and Foamous Body Wash
After hearing so much about Soap and Glory on blogs and youtube channels, I thought I'd like to try it. I didn't know which product to try so I went for a body wash. The scent is really lovely and it's light and a good texture to apply. It's so relaxing having a bath and applying this product. Of course the packaging is super adorable and part of the appeal. It's very much like the brand 'Dirty Works' in terms of design which is much more available here in Australia. I've posted a couple of times before about 'Dirty Works' and particularly enjoy their bubble bath.

L'Oreal Preference Hair Colour in Pure Scarlet
This is the colour I've always used since I started dyeing my hair red earlier in the year. I've seen mixed reviews on it but its been great for me and deserves a mention here. There were limited options to choose from when I made the decision to go for red hair so this one stood out. I still wish my hair was brighter, just like Ariel the Little Mermaid, but I never wanted to bleach my hair so I think I've done really well with just a boxed hair dye. I've had a number of comments of this nature. It also lasts long and fades much less than I would have expected. I plan to continue using this product for quite awhile.

Beauty & Makeup Favourites

OPI Nail Polish in Rising Star
What is there not to love about a gold nail polish!?! This one is a gorgeous vibrant and shiny gold. The consistency is nice and thick and it doesn't chip too easily. It's definitely my most worn nail polish at the moment.

Maybelline Colour Tattoo Eyeshadow in Bad to the Bronze
I've mentioned a number of times that the Maybelline Colour Tattoo range is my favourite makeup product ever (in any category). It's so easy to use, even for those of us who are terrible at eyeshadow. It is incredibly long lasting and lives up to its claim of being a 24 hour product. For many months I alternated between Silver Strike and Bold Gold. However, I've recently added Bad to the Bronze into the rotation. I hadn't previously considered it as I thought it was too neutral; I'm more into bolder shades. However, it's actually a really beautiful shade, not at all boring and less brown than I'd expected. I definitely recommend giving it a try.

John Frieda Colour Refreshing Gloss
I've only used this product once as I bought it last week at the 50% off hair products sale at Priceline (best sale, I've never been so excited by hair products before). I've always wanted to try a product of this nature. It's supposed to be applied to wet hair after shampoo and conditioner, once a week, to refresh the colour. The colour was very noticeable after a hair wash; my hair was much less dull and faded. I don't usually have much success with hair products of any variety so I was happy with this result.

Do you have any new favourite beauty/makeup products?

Rainbow Tag

Hi everyone, it's time for another video! This time I am filming the rainbow tag which has become quite a popular video on youtube over time. In case you don't know, the rainbow tag is where you select a favourite product in each colour of the rainbow and talk about the benefits and generally share the product with everyone out there on the Internet. I've only ever seen this tag done with beauty products but it would be fun to film the rainbow tag with clothes, shoes or accessories. I do love clothes much more than I love beauty products. It's also very fun to choose favourites with a particular criteria. For now I leave you with seven products- in red, yellow, pink, green, purple, orange and blue.

Here is the video:

Monthly Beauty Favourites- December 2014

Hi everyone. I've just created my very first youtube video which you can see here. When I mentioned in my last post that I wanted to start a youtube channel I never expected that I'd actually start creating it that weekend. I also was surprised by how many of you said you'd watch my videos. Thank you (and I hope you don't change your mind after you actually see them). It's a big deal to put my first video on the Internet; I've thought about it for so many months but never thought I could actually do it. I still think my video is very basic and wish I was much better at appearing in front of the camera! I cannot believe how much work it takes to create a video. There are so many small aspects to consider such as the background of the video, what to wear and whether my hair looks acceptable on the camera.  I downloaded some video editing software and I've only used the very basic features but it takes an incredible amount of time. I'd say it's probably taken around eight hours for me to edit the video. I've become so involved in  it, there just isn't enough time after work, I've been staying up way too late. I can definitely see this getting in the way of my full time job. After putting so many hours into filming and editing, I just wanted to finally get the video out there. I now have so much respect for youtubers considering I now know how long it takes.  I don't know how people are so articulate in front of the camera as I can't seem to finish a sentence without pausing or repeating myself. I'm no expert at video editing. I know I tend to waffle on and there are a couple of places where it's way too obvious that I cut off the end of a word while editing. I did the best I can.

I decided to film a beauty favourites video because I've been intending to write a blog post on this for about six months now (never got around to it, worst blogger ever?!) . I'm also no expert on beauty.makeup products (I know so much more about clothes and shoes) so this is just some products that I've come to love in recent times. Let me know if you have any recommendations for videos you'd like me to film. I have a few ideas but I' definitely up for suggestions. Here are the products I featured in my video:

The Beauty Blogger Tag

The other day I was tagged by Pooja Mittal from 'Being Beautiful and Pretty' to complete the Beauty Blogger Tag. I am very honoured; I rarely post about beauty products. I believe my knowledge in this area is somewhat minimal; I know many of you are much better than I am when it comes to beauty routines. However, I thought this would be a great opportunity to address beauty products and, as well as answer the questions forwarded to me, I'll show you my daily makeup routine.

I'll start with the tag:
1). State that this tag was created by 'The Beau Bow'
2). Some some more beauty bloggers
3). Title this as I've done to show the contents of the tag
4). Answer the questions

17583_10151475867845950_1510423045_n
Q). Name the beauty routine you barely do.
I'd probably say toning and mousturising. I often forget or run out of time; other times I am too tired and become lazy so I just skip it. I really need to work on that.

Q). Is washing your makeup brushes something you do regularly?
Unfortunately not because I often forget. However, I do have a large quantity of makeup brushes (I started using a new set recently) so finding a clean one isn't a problem. This question totally reminds me to wash my makeup brushes; I bet I'll end up doing it later today.

Q). How long will you last with chipped nail varnish?
This is a situation which annoys me greatly so probably not very long. When I notice chipped nail polish I'll fix it at the earliest possible convenience.

Q).  How long do you put off buying/replacing a beauty or a nail polish product even if you need it (ie top coat, foundation etc)?
It depends on the nature of the product. For example, the most important items to me are red lipstick, eyeliner and mascara. If I'm without either one of these products, I'll go to any lengths to replace them as soon as possible. If its foundation I could wait a couple of weeks because I don't think my skin looks too bad without it. In terms of nail polish I'd even wait months because I have so many alternatives; the likelihood of there being entirely without nail polish is extremely slim.

Q). What is your worst beauty habit?
I'd definitely say not drinking enough water; continually choosing coke zero over water. I really need to change this.

1000985_10151475737240950_97053llllllll1103_nQ). Name something non-beauty related you put off doing all the time?
I can't think of one thing specificly but that's because the true answer would be absolutely everything. I am fantastic and very experienced at procrastination.

Q). When going out somewhere do you leave getting ready to the last minute or not?
No. I always leave adequate time to get ready. Since dressing up is such an enjoyable experience for me, I like to make the most out of it and look the best I possibly can.. I'm fairly quick at hair and makeup (since I have the same style every day ) so choosing an outfit is the activity which potentially takes the longest amount of time. Although, this also depends; sometimes I instantly know what to wear and other days I'll have to try on like a million outfits before getting it right. Aren't we all like that?

Q). Can you submit to spending bans?
Absolutely not! In fact, I can't think of anything in the whole world that I've been worse at in recent times than committing to spending bans. Each time I attempt to implement a spending ban, I end up spending more than I would usually which is simply ridiculous. I think this is because, in a round about way, I'm actually thinking about the whole concept of spending more than I would in usual circumstances.

Q). How organised is your makeup and nail polish collection?
My nail polish collection is rather organised; I have them all stored in a pretty box. As for my makeup, it's not particularly organised and could be much better sorted; I'd either find it in the handbag I used last or one of the draws in the bathroom. I really want to find an exciting and stylish way to store my makeup. I'd found some inspiration from other bloggers in recent times. It will be one of my next projects.

Q). What is  the longest time you have gone without writing a blog post?
Not particularly long. These days I wouldn't go for more than five days without posting. As an estimate, I'd say the longest ever time would be about  two weeks.

Now for my daily makeup routine. My daily makeup is anything but natural; I do tend to wear a lot of makeup every day. I use:
-Covergirl Outlast All-Day Lipcolor in red
-Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner in black ink with Bobbi Brown Ultra Fine Eyeliner Brush
-Natio Long Lasting Lip Liner in scarlett
-Maybelline The Falsies Volume Express in black
-Clinique Almost Powder Makeup in fair
-Maybelline Expert Wear Eye Shadow Trio in Crown Jewels

I'm tagging anyone who wants to do this fun post.
