Pearl Beach: Central Coast

Hi all. Just a quick post to show you these beautiful pictures from my weekend away at Pearl Beach on the Central Coast. Although I’ve been to the Central Coast many times before, this was my first time specifically at Pearl Beach. I love this place and it’s not too far from Sydney. It’s very peaceful and pretty; in its own secluded area which felt like a temporary escape from reality. The purpose of the weekend was to participate in a swimming meet but we made a whole weekend of it. I had the best time ever.

Central Coast Day 2

Hi all! Here are the pictures from the second day of our trip to the central coast (which was almost 2 weeks ago now). You can see part 1 here. It was only a very short trip- I could only get accommodation for two nights given that we booked with very short notice, but I didn't mind it being short. I don't usually like going away for very long and there wouldn't have been much to do there in excess of three days. It was just the right about of time to get out of Sydney. The weather was beautiful on the second day and the scenery was in such vivid colours. It was very bright for photos which is why I'm never facing the camera here. I can't believe I got sunburnt! I didn't even go swimming. We just had a short walk on the beach and I even wore sunscreen. My pale skin is really not suited to the Australian climate.

Central Coast Day 1

Hi everyone! We've made it from Sydney to the Central Coast and are on day one of our holiday. I'm posting this from the hotel room- two posts from me in 24 hours! Today was taken up by travel, checking out the area and a walk to the beach. The area is very beautiful and there are so many pelicans! The scenery makes the perfect location for outfit pictures. It was a little cold this morning but it's become better as the day has progressed. I just wish it wasn't so windy on the beach when taking the photos. We about to go out for dinner which will be enjoyable and I look forward to wearing one of my new dresses which I received for Christmas. I'm not too sure what we will do for the next couple of days as the husband and I are not really into the beach but I'm sure we will be able to occupy ourselves. Here are the photos from the walk to the beach earlier this afternoon.

A Weekend Away

On Friday night,I enjoyed an epic night out in the city with Rydog and my sister; we'd planned this night for so many weeks in advance. My sister desperately wanted to expose me to a couple of Sydney night clubs since, despite having lived in Sydney for my entire life, I'd rarely been to one. I am the kind of girl who either sits at home knitting on a Friday or Saturday night or who only ever goes out in one of the three suburbs surrounding home.  Yes, I enjoy it that way but a change for one night was certainly fun too. We decided to make the experience more fun by staying overnight in the city on Friday and having lunch and shopping on Saturday.

We stayed at the Quay West Suites. This was my view waking up on Saturday morning...

The Quay West Suites were incredible and beautiful; I cannot speak highly enough of them. It was definitely one of the best accommodation I have ever stayed at. We never expected to have such a fabulous view of the city. The only disappointing part was we didn't have enough time there; by the time we met up on Friday night after university and with check out at 10am the next day it was just too short.

On Saturday we had lunch at Pancakes on the Rocks and took pictures in the  telephone booth (as per usual upon visiting this location).

Friday night was fun; more on that later once I have a chance to coordinate my outfit photos.

I also thought I'd make this into a proper outfit post. My black skirt that I mentioned in my last post arrived in the mail on Friday (in only two days!) and I'm very happy with it. It's so good to finally have a black skirt again and I am absolutely amazed by the amount of outfits I can create with it. Despite having lots of clothes, I often lack basics so this skirt was definitely a much needed purchase. The jacket is a gift which I received for my birthday from Rydog's family. I've only worn it a couple of times because I like to save it for best. It's one of my favourite ever items. I like how it adds instant style and class to an outfit. The green top used to be my mother in laws and the other day she gave it to me. She accidently shrank it in the dryer so now it fits me. It's 100% wool and I don't have anything like that so I love it! It made me think of how interesting it is that clothes usually have a story behind them.

Outfit

This is the first time I've used blogger since the new layout was introduced and I don't know about everyone else but I'm finding it incredibly confusing. I'm sure I'll get used to it eventually but today it took me ages just to work out how to compose a new post!

This weekend Rydog and I went away for a night to the Southern Highlands which is located about an hour and a half from Sydney. It is an area that I'm very familiar with because I used to visit these towns frequently with my parents when I was a child. The landscape and scenery is very beautiful and there are so many wonderful photo opportunities. I was planning to blog at least three outfits while in the Southern Highlands this weekend but in the end I could only photograph one since it started raining. We even decided to drive back much earlier than expected on Sunday afternoon because of the rain only to find almost an equal amount of rain in Sydney. At least I have one set of outfit posts.

Orange seems to be one of the most stylish colours to wear at the moment and is very popular when it comes to colour blocking. It is everywhere in the shops, I have noticed! However, I must admit that I have never liked orange and prior to a couple of weeks ago almost nothing in my wardrobe was orange. So I decided to introduce this skirt, with an orange stripe, to my collection. It allows me to wear a relatively small amount of orange without it completely taking over my outfit. I love wearing just this amount of orange and it allows me to combine it with pink for a colour blocking effect. This outfit actually reminds me of my colour blocking dress that I posted in the earlier days of my blog a couple of years ago here. I adore this pink coat at the moment and I will definitely be wearing it a lot this coming winter. Last week was the first time I've ever worn my pink coat. I bought it many months ago but only now has it been cold enough to wear it. I bought it in summer so it was a bargain!

Unfortunately it is back to university this week. I didn't complete much of the work I'd planned and I enjoyed a much more relaxing holiday than I should have.  This is mainly because I discovered the Crime Investigations Channel on tv and rediscovered my love for knitting. These interests have taken over and for weeks I've done not much else with my life.
