Hello everyone. I wore this outfit on Tuesday for the Australia Day holiday and celebrations. In the afternoon I attended a BBQ with Rydog and his family and in the evening I had a seafood meal with my family. It was a fun and eventful day and I wish it didn't go so fast or have to end so soon. The weather was extremely hot on Tuesday which I thought was very iconic for Australia Day.
The dress and jacket are new clothes which I received earlier in the week when I went shopping with Rydog's family. I also receieved a few other items which I will most likely post here at some point. Everything is from my favourite shop Bardot and is inspired by the increasingly popular nautical trend and the contrasting of red and blue. The dress is possibilty my favourite item although it is a difficult choice and it makes me wonder why I haven't bought more strapless dresses in the past. I am extremely appreciative of receiving all of these gifts and I hope there is some way that I can demonstrate this more at some point. It was such a wonderful surprise and very kind and generous.
I recently enrolled and registered for another year at university and the reality of returning to studying in just a few weeks is starting to set in. I'm not looking forward to this year at university and I am quite worried about how difficult it will be and how much work I will be required to complete. I think that third year is becoming quite serious now and a few people I know in older years have told me that this year will be hard. I am trying not to think about it too much at the moment and I really want to value and enjoy the next few weeks. Its interesting how differently we look at things sometimes. Last year when I was at university I would have given almost anything for a weekend completely free of study where I could relax, watch movies, browse the Internet or sleep but these holidays I have occassionally felt bored or negative when an uneventful weekend without anything planned arrives. I guess there are diminishing marginal benefits as one is presented with additional free days but it is this sort of attitude that I feel bad about. Although I have thoroughly enjoyed the holidays I wish I understood the true value of them at the time and could have appeciated certain things more. I know that once I return to university I will be wishing more than anything to turn back time to the beginning of the summer holidays and I even desire that now. My hope for the next few weeks is to appreciate the true value and gain more satisfaction from the simple things in life.
My greatest wish is that time would stand still...even just for a short while.
I also received the Kreativ Blogger Award from my friend Rose at Roses r Red. Thank you very much lovely! I adore Rose's blog and I definately think it is one of the best out there. It is always inspirational and creative and I love reading about all her latest activities so I definitely suggest you take a look if you have not done so already.
The recipient of this award is required to list seven interesting things about themself and then pass it on to seven bloggers.
1. I hate my name. I want to change it but I'm not sure how practical this is. My favourite name is Chelsea.
2. I love the warm weather and I wish it could be summer all year around.
3. I am very young at heart and I wish I didn't have to become older so quickly.
4. I drink way too much coca-cola, usually everyday. It has become addictive. My favourite is vanilla coke.
5. I will hopefully finish my first university degree at the end if the year (as long as I don't fail any subjects)
6. I often worry about things too much and I am terrible at making decisions.
7. I used to dye my hair black for four years and then I finally realised that I quite like my natural hair colour and it suits me more than black hair.
I am passing this award onto:

That dress is so great and I also adore the cardigan :).
Hi Imogen, I wished we would have had a busier aussie day, if it was my choice I would have had a BBQ too! But im going to one next weekend so hopefully that will make up for it :) It sounds like you had a fun aussie day neways.
The dress is really nice, i think i like it best with the little red/white jacket. Strapless dresses annoy me because they fall down too often, i usually make my own straps and sew them on.
I only have one week left of holidays too :( and i cant tell you how much i wish it was uni i was returning to instead of full time work. I keep thinking too that I would have done certain things with my holidays and appreciated them more, although nurses get 6 weeks holidays a year instead of 4 which is a plus i guess.
Thanks so much for what you said about Roses r Red, i really enjoy your blog too!
Do you know i drink soft drink every day too, its terrible but i think its addictive. And I also hate my name...but i like your name. And I cant believe your hair was black, i deffinately think the brown looks good on you.
Rose
You look fantastic in that dress! I love how you paired it with the red flats.
This post made me smile because it is exactly how I used to feel when I was in school. When a semester was particularly stressful, I always longed for summer break. But, during a boring summer break, I was just itching to get back to school. Hehe.
Congrats on the award! I am addicted to Coca Cola too, unfortunately. I wish it was healthy, but sadly it's not. Actually, I wish water tasted like Coca Cola because then that would solve all my problems. Hehe!
I hope you have a great weekend. :)
Congrats on the award Imogen... and I love your dress. It's great to stop and smell the flowers once in awhile... enjoy the moments, the simple things in life.
Oh my gosh you look adorable!

I adore this nautical look! One of my favourite styles.
I don't think you need to worry about university too much as long as you work hard! If I can do it, you can! We always long for more carefree holidays... we don't know what we're missing until they're gone.
PS I like your name!

Don't worry about third year, it is definitely the hardest year of the 3 yrs at uni but it was always going to work out this way. You'll blink and the year will be over. I certainly feel that way during my undergraduate degree...and now I'm doing postgrad, which is completely crazy!
OH my god! I LOVE that dress! I LOVE IT.
