Item of the Week 008

I have always been obsessed with shoes but in the past few weeks I have become even more obsessed with shoes than ever before. I have been selecting outfits based on the shoes that I desire to wear and my expenditure on shoes has substantially increased, evidenced by purchases such as this. I bought these shoes in the 50% sale at Wittner recently. They are very versatile and will be perfect to wear with my dresses that have light coloured backgrounds such as this beautiful Alannah Hill dress that I received for Christmas last year. They also go well with my recent Modcloth purchases that were posted here. I also love the fact that these shoes are patent and the overall girly nature.

This week I've had a few different issues on my mind which I would like to write about briefly. Since my blog has taken on a more personal dimension over the last year in addition to the fashion aspect, I find it extremely helpful to
document how I have been feeling here. I love to have my own space where I can explain my views and feelings because one of my greatest frustrations in life is that I rarely have the chance to do so. My main issue this week is uncertainty. While I have made progress this year in defining personal boundaries, understanding and appreciating who I am and trying to minimise nerves and anxiety, I'm not so sure if I am in as favourable position as I thought I was. I still feel nervous most of the time, I am still unable to make the right decisions, I still waste opportunities, I still feel generally unappreciated, I still wish I had more confidence and I am still dissatisfied with many circumstances in my life. I believe that people rarely listen to me or truly like me for who I am. I have been listening to "Change" by Taylor Swift lately the lyrics "somebody else gets what you wanted again, you know it's all the same, another time and place , repeating history and you're getting sick of it,"and "it's hard to fight when the fight ain't fair" basically describe how I feel at the moment. Behind all of the dressing up, the pretty clothes and makeup which makes me so happy on a daily basis, I'm not who I want to be. I hope this uncertain feeling is temporary and that I can find the strength to continue to implement positive changes in my life somehow.

Hey hun,
I love your shoes :) They are so gorgeous! I've not been able to comment on blogs due to a browser problem which I hope is now fixed :) Have you read a bk by Paul Mckenna - I think it's called confidence (or something like that). I found it really helpful when I was first had to start using my chair and I needed to find some self confidence somewhere :) xxx

These shoes are so gorgeous, Imogen. They are so classy.

I'm sorry to hear you are feeling this way. I really wish we lived in the same city (or continent for that matter). I honestly feel like we were destined to be best friends, because we have so much in common but also because we understand each other so well.

From the first moment I read your blog, it was very easy for me to see what an intelligent and kind-hearted and lovely person you are behind the beautiful face and clothes.

I really wish I could help you out of your present situation or make things easier for you. If you ever need to talk, you know I'm here for you.

Those shoes are really beautiful, they will go with so many items!

I understand how you're feeling; I recently lost my job and my whole world was turned on its' head... I lost sight of who I was for a while, doubted myself, questionned my value and whether I was 'good enough' for another job... but these feelings and insecurities just need their time to heal. I hope u feel better soon x

I saw you left a comment on my blog and I wanted to check in with you to see what your blog is about. If I may give you a bit of my background, I started my blog (specifically my Goodwill challenge) to find focus in my life. Sounds odd I know, but for years I was so caught up in dealing with my internal self and a medical diagnosis (Parkinson's Disease) that I literally forgot to think about how I was presenting myself each day. Fashion was the last thing on my mind - I never shopped. No matter how hard I try, my love for fashion and the attention I'm giving it won't erase how I feel about my disease and my future, but for now, I'm enjoying this aspect of my life and how it balances out the uncertainty of my future. Enjoy your love for fashion, as it is a sign you are happy and moving forward in life. I hope the uncertainty you are feeling wanes. And to get back to fashion, love all of your previous purchases! ; )

I think what you are feeling is normal, it seems that you have worked really hard to come to the point where you are today. Chin up butter cup!

This time I'll put the shoes aside and concentrate on what you wrote: it is normal to have uncertainty. I do have these moments as well. I found relief in concentrating on few short term objectives and writing them down. Each of us has a personality that can or cannot show up. It all depends on your goals. Find them and you'll gert your self confidence back.
Hope this helps.
Nice shoes BTW!

These shoes will go with anything and everything. I love shoes like that. I would be a little nervous about getting them dirty, but you can clean them often and pretty much solve that problem.

Every girl needs a great pair of nude pumps!
You are doing exactly the right thing by bringing what's inside of you out into the light. That is always the first step. 2nd if others are not appreciating you, know that you are appreciated and someone does get you and just keep being the best you, you know how. You are right in that all the glamour in the world can't mask what's inside us if we don't truely feel that way. I pray that you will have a resfreshing of inner peace and joy and that what you seek, will come to you in abundance. ;) xo -Taj

Nude pumps are so versatile, and I love the pair that you've chosen. The patent pump is really very feminine.

You know what strikes me whenever I visit your lovely blog? Just how accomplished you are. I'm so impressed by your drive for education and how that must be so much work, being a law student! I agree with everyone here when I say that I hope things start to go your way and that you'll feel happier and less anxious in time. You deserve to feel appreciated and have a sense of fulfillment in your life:) xx
