Academy Awards 2011

I have finally found some time to complete my post on the Academy Awards. I was very excited about the Academy Awards this year, much more than I ever had been about a red carpet event in the past. I wanted to attended the live screening of the event at the cinema but that was at 11.00am on a Monday in our time so I couldn't because I was at university. I caught up on everything when I arrived home and watched the presentations and red carpet reviews. Overall there were many red carpet looks that I loved from this year's event and there were very few gowns that I could fault. My favourite looks were Mila Kunis, Hailee Steinfeld, Mandy Moore and Halle Berry. Here is my review:

Mila Kunis
Mila Kunis

I am so extremely impressed by this dress and I think it is stunning and perfect in every possible way. The colour is beautiful and a welcome change from the more common red and nude tones of the event. I love the decorative nature of the chiffon and lace, the panelling and the low cut design. Her hair, makeup and jewellery was just right. I cannot fault this dress and it is one of the best I have ever seen. I am totally in love with this dress. I, like many people, have been very impressed with Mila Kunis' looks this red carpet season.

Natalie Portman
Natalie Portman

This is another look that I thought was very beautiful and I especially love this particular shade of purple. I love the detailing of the dress, the cut and the way it sits off the shoulders. I adore the tassel earings and, although many people were disappointed by the extent to which this look matched, I did not have any issues with this and I always love a look so coordinated in this way. I have been impressed by Natalie Portman;s looks this red carpet season. I was also pleased to see her win the Oscar and give such an appropriate speech.

Mandy Moore
Mandy Moore

Word cannot describe how much I love this look and it is absolutely perfect in every way. I cannot fault this because it is put together so well and Many Moore looks so elegant and classy here. I love the nude tone, the sparkles, the little sleeves and the overall shape of the dress. I thought her makeip and hair were just right and complimented the look. It reminds me of a glamorous princess and this so consistent with my style. This is definitely one of the best dresses I have ever seen and it would take something very special to beat this look.

Anne Hathaway
Anne Hathaway

I love Anne Hathaway's look here and I think that red is the most perfect colour on her because she is a such a classic beauty and looks so elegant. This dress made her stand out for all the right reasons. I love the detailing on the dress and the bold shape and her makeup and hair complimented the dress. It was interesting to see Anne host the Academy Awards this year. I may be the only person who believes this but I think that the amount of outfit changes she had throughout the night was excessive. While I liked most of the outfits it just seemed unnecessary. Plus, eight different outfits meant that we didn't get to see each outfit for very long and I think it would have been better to showcase less gowns but for a longer time period each. My favourites were the gorgeous blue dress, the white gown and the fringe dress.

Reese Witherspoon
Reese Witherspoon

I simply love Reese. I think she is such a lovely person with a great personality and I like to see all of her movies. I'm not entirely sure what to think about this look. There is nothing paticularly wrong about it but I think it is a little plain. Black and white is a safe and reliable choice but at the same time there was nothing that jumped out at me here and I would have liked to have seen something more impressive from her. I did, however, love her hair and the style was amazing.

Amy Adams
Amy Adams

Overall I liked this dress but there are certainly some changes that should have been made which would have yielded vast improvements. I love the colour and sparkly nature of this dress and there is something about the combination of this blue in sparkly material that I have adored for a long time now. I like the shape of the dress as it appears flattering on her. The issue I have with this look is the jewellery. I dislike the green jewellery with the blue dress and, like many others, I think the necklace was completely wrong How can she not have realised that a pair of statement earings would have been a much better option?

Jennifer Hudson
Jennifer Hudson

It seems like I am the only person who didn't love Jennifer Hudson's look but this time I feel the need to divert from the majority opinion. While I believe there was an element of confidence and beauty to her look and I loved her hair, makeup and jewellery, I did not like the dress. I have disliked every shade of orange for a very long time now. Also, I disliked the cut of the dress and think she revealed far too much cleavage. Sorry everyone!

Scarlett Johansson
Scarlett Johansson

I have heard some negative opinions about Scarlett's look but I actually liked her dress. I love the different shades of purple, the lace floral design and the high neckline with the cut out back. I thought it was a very sweet and pretty dress. However, her hair totally ruined the look and I cannot comprehend how she would attend the Academy Awards with it in that state. It is far too messy and unstyled and it actually remind me of my hair when I have not yet had a chance to straighten it. A different hairstyle would have improved this look tremundously.

Sandra Bullock
Sandra Bullock

I love Sandra Bullock's look here and I adore the colour red on her especially against her dark hair. I think this is a beautiful dress and really stands out and makes a statement. The red makes this dress very classic and elegant. I love the strapless style, the bodice and the way the dress flows. This is one of my favourite dresses I have ever seen her in and I loved it almost as much as the gown she wore to last year's event. This is a stunning and well put together look.

Gwyneth Paltrow
Gwenyth Paltrow

I must admit that I wasn't so sure about this look when I first saw it but having reviewed it afterwards I can't believe how I ever thought that and I totally love it. I adore everything silver, gold or sparkly at the moment and with her beautiful long blonde hair she is so stunning. I love the style of the dress with the deep neckline and it reminds me of something that Miranda from Sex and the City would wear. This is definitely one of my favourite dresses of the Academy Awards.

Michelle Williams
Michelle Williams

I did not like this look at all and it was one of my least favourites of the entire event. In my opinion it was far too simple, plain and boring and I was very underwhelmed. It was mainly the style of the dress that I disliked. I didn't like the combination of a long dress with such a conservative round neck and those sleeves. The neckline reminded me too much of a t-shirt. The colour was average but didn't make much of a statement. It would have been good to see something a little more glamorous from her.

Cate Blanchett
Cate Blanchett

Overall I am not a fan of this look but I didn't totally hate it either. I think that with a few adjustments I would have liked it just not in its current form. I liked the skirt part from the waist , the back and even some of the beading but I disliked the cutout in the middle and the three dimensional effect. It reminded me of a photoframe and this was too unusual for my liking. I also did not like the rigid and structured sleeves, they didn't seem right and I wasn't a fan of such a high neckline for this dress either.

Florence Welch
Florence Welch

I would also place Florence Welch in the worst dressed category of the event. While I love vintage style and lace, this is taking it too far because there is just too much lace and too many frills. Again, I disliked the high neckline and long sleeves especially with a long dress, I believe it covers too much. For long dresses , I personally prefer shorter sleeves, a lower neckline or a low back. Also, the colour was completely wrong against her hair colour skin tone and washed her out too much.

Hailee Steinfeld
Hailee Steinfeld WOW

Words cannot desrcibe how much I love this look and it was my favourite of the Academy Awards. It is also one of the most stunning dresses I have ever seen in my whole life. From my past reviews you have probably noticed that I love Hailee Steinfeld's fashion and I thought her looks for the Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild Awards were flawless too. I also think she is a very lovely and sweet girl. This dress is beautiful. I love the colour, the sparkles and detailing, the transperant part at the top, the way the dress flairs out just the right amount and the adorable length. I am probably going to be thinking about this dress for a very long time now because I believe it is perfect. I know many people have written about it being age approriate for her but I believe this look goes beyond that. I am seven years older than her and it would be my perfect dress too.

Halle Berry
Halee Berry

I am not usually a fan of Halle Berry's red carpet looks but this was certainly an exception. I was extremely impressed by her look her and I think the nude tone was fantastic on her. I adore the nude dress trend at the moment so much. I love the decorative bodice, the tulle and the sparkles and the detailing at the top. It fits her so well and I love the material and the way the dress flows to the side when it reaches the bottom. This is another perfect dress which I could not fault. It is an outstanding dress.

Helena Bonham Carter
Helena Bonham Carter

I am not a fan of Helena Bonham Carter's style and this look was no exception. I just think her personal style is too crazy and far out for my liking and not in accordance with my taste at all. There was nothing terribly wrong with this dress, as there was with her look at the Golden Globe awards of this year, but at the same time there was nothing I particularly liked or that stood out to me either.

Nicole Kidman
Nicole Kidman

Again, this was another look that wasn't completely terrible but that I ddin't particularly like either. I loved her hair and I believe it is such a beautiful colour at the moment. However, as many people would agree, constantly seeing her in white and black is boring and it would be great to see her in some colour and a different style of dress (which is why I liked her Grammy Awards dress so much). I dislike the necklace and I think a statement pair of earings would have looked much better. As for the dress, I don't like the pattern or the parts that come out of the sides.

Celine Dion
Celine Dion

I am a huge fan of Celine Dion and she has been my favourite singer of all time for as long as I can remember. I was so pleased to see her at this year's event. I loved this dress on her, primarily because of how well it fitted her and how it showed off her figure. I think she has an incredibly body and the neckline is just right. Her necklace was very beautiful and went well with the dress. I think the colour with the shimmer is lovely on her too.

Helen Mirren
Helen Mirren

Helen Mirren looks fabulous here. I liked the colour of her dress, the fit, the shape, the bodice, the puffed sleeves and everything really. I liked the necklace and, although I was surprised that it wasn't shorter, this is only a minor detail. Overall, I believe it was an elegant and glamourous look and a perfect choice for her. I was very impressed.

Penelope Cruz
Penelope Cruz

Overall I loved this dress. I adored the beautiful red colour, the pattern and design, the sparkles and the thin straps. Her hair is so gorgeous and she is just so incredibly gorgeous. I, like many others, am amazed by how good she looks just a short time after having her first child. However, I did think that the top part of the dress was far too revealing. With a few minor changes here this dress would have been taken to the next level, in my opinion.

So what did you think? What were your favourite and least favourite looks of the Academy Awards 2011?

Grammy Awards 2011

I know the Grammy Awards were a little while ago now but I still like to cover all the red carpet events so I thought I would still post my best and worst dressed list. There have certainly been a lot of red carpet events lately. I didn't find many outstanding outfits at the Grammy Awards but there were a few that I liked. I certainly easn't as impressed as I was with the Screen Actors Guild Awards but I have fairly specific taste when it comes to outfits for the red carpet.

Best
Good

-It should come as no suprise that La Michele is in the best dressed list once again. I don't think I have seen a red carpet look from her that I have not liked and hers was my favourite of the Grammy Awards this year. I love the black lace, the detailing and rouching of the sleeves and the neckline. This is a very flattering dress on her and I also love her hair at the moment. The only part I didn't like was the shoes which I thought were too chunky but this is a minor detail.
-Selena Gomez looked very classy and chic in this stunning dress. The colour of her dress is most beautiful and the stunning shade really makes a statement. I also like the top of the dress and how it sits on the shoulders. Her hair, makeup and jewellery are beautiful and she looks so incredibly pretty.
-I much prefer Kelly Osbourne's recent image and her dress is a refreshing change to what is usually seen on the red carpet. The colour and violet shade are beautiful, I love the texture and the detailing of the darker coloured bow. This is a very sweet and adorable look and I think it's good to see Kelly in this type of dress.

good2
-I think that Julianne Hough's colourful and beautifully designed maxi dress is a standout. It is different from many of the block coloured gowns that are seen regularly on the red carpet. I love the cut and the neckline and the pink and purple are pretty.
-It is not very often that Nicole Kidman is in my best dressed list but I was much more impressed by her look here. It was a refreshing to see a change from her black or nude toned dresses that are normally seen on the red carpet. I am not absolutely amazed by the dress but I do think it was successful with the colours and the strapless design and the ruffles. I think her hair looked incredibly beautiful and it is such a gorgeous colour.
-As I have explained recently I have been very impressed by Dianna Agron's red carpet looks lately so it should come as no surprise that she is in the best dressed list again. This isn't my favourite of her looks and I like her last two gowns better. I would have liked it better if she wore more statement shoes and maybe different jewellery but sometimes nothing beats a classic black dress. The dress is very stylish and chic.

Worst
Bad

-OMG Rihanna, I just don't know what to say, this is unbelievable. It is obviously far too revealing and I can't comprehend why she would turn up to the Grammy Awards in this. I was so shocked when I saw this. It is very sad for me to see Rihanna in such a bad dress because I used to love her so much. She is one of my favourite singers but I liked her much more around the time she released Good Girl Gone Bad.
-I don't usually like Ciara's looks either and I don't think this dress is at all flattering. I don't really like the pattern and it is revealing in all the wrong places. I think the slit at the front is unfattering and I strongly dislike the shoes.
-For me, this is another OMG look. I cannot believe that Nicki Minaj would come to the Grammy Awards in full leopard print and the bright lipstick is not tasteful either. It seems to me that it is more of a costume. There is nothing I like about this look.

Bad2

-Jennifer Lopez's dress is far too short and the combination of the revealing dress and the super high heels are distasteful in my opinion. A sparkly dress could have been stylish but not in this form. The hair extensions look unnatural and ungroomed.
-Hayley Williams, in my opinion, seems costume like and unsophisticated and I don't like the combination of all the black with the pink skirt part. I dislike the see through part in the middle and it is just a comination of too many different styles.
-I love LeAnn Rimes as a singer but not her look here. I don't like the colour or the style of the dress and her face looks so unnatural. She looks too thin here especially since her head looks extremely large.

So what do you think? What were your favourite and least favourite looks?

Screen Actors Guild Awards 2011

I love posting about award ceremonies and red carpet events so I'm very pleased to have the chance to write about the Screen Actors Guild Awards so soon after the Golden Globe awards. Here are some of my favourite and least favourite looks. There were so many dresses that I adored from this event. I always love Lea Michele's looks and lately I have been very impressed by Hailee Stenfield and Dianna Agron.

Best
Untitled
-I have been very impressed by Hailee Stenfield's red carpet looks lately and I think that both her look for the Golden Globes and the Screen Actors Guild Awards were flawless. She brings such a young, fresh and fun style and looks elegant and classy at the same time. I adore the bold colours and the shape of her dress. I can't wait to see further looks from her.
-Lea Michele is always my favourite on the red carpet and I have posted about four of her previous looks in the best dressed list. This elegant and classy sparkly dress suits her perfectly and shows off her figure in the best possible way. The belt adds a touch of glam and the shoes fit in perfectly.
-Mila Kunis certainly backed up her fashion success from the Golden Globes with a gorgeous gown her at the Screen Actors Guild Awards. Red is a fabulous colour on her and I love the pattern, style and belt of the dress. The accessories especially the bag match very well. Her hair looks beautiful in the loose curls.

Untitledd
-I have also been very impressed by Dianna Agron's red carpet looks lately and her elegant and classic gowns are starting to stand out to me. I adore this classy colour, the bow and the detailing. I also love the length and the opportunity to show off the shoes and the 1950s vintage inspiration since this is my favourite decade for fashion. I am also looking forward to seeing future looks from her.
-Eva Longoria looks very elegant and glamous here and I much prefer this gown to her last red carpet look. I adore the colour and the style at the top of the dress reveals exactly the right amount to be regarded as highly classy rather than too exposed. I love the length (without a train) the slight detailing near the waist and the accessories. She aced it here.
-This is the first time that I can remember where I have liked Tina Fey's red carpet look. I have wanted to like her gowns in the past but I just haven't been able to. The flower detailing is gorgeous and I especially love how it extends slightly at the top of the dress. It fits perfectly with the fitted bodice and the lovely flowy material cascading to the bottom.

dddd
-Kim Kardashian's dress is a very gorgeous colour and that is what drew my attention to it. Purple is my favourite colour and I have noted a lack of purple dresses on the red carpet recently so it is very refreshing to see this beautiful shade. I love the silver detailing and the one shoulder style.
-January Jones looked very elegant and classy here and I also much prefered this look to her Golden Globe gown. I adore the gold against the black and the pattern is so very pretty. I liked the belt part which breaks up the dress. The style of the dress certainly compliments the vintage vibe that this dress portrays.

-I love the colour and pattern of Claire Danes's dress and it is different to some of the more common looks that are seen on the red carpet. The accents and details of black as with the belt and the frills at the top take this dress to another level of elegance. I think the dress is beautiful.

Worst
ddd
-Christina Hendricks looked too dark and scary in this outfit and the style appeared too heavy and bulky. I didn't like the split in the front or the long sleeves. It just seemed completely wrong to me.
-Winona Ryder's look has been widely discussed as the worst and her well known deer in head lights facial expression. I agree and I didn't like the wedding dress look because it was not appropriate for the occassion.

-I'm not usually a fan of Nicole Kidman's looks at red carpet events and this was no exception. I thought the all black look was a little plain and the lace and cut outs were not in the most flattering or stylish places. It was just not my style at all.

Love
so cute

I wanted to point out that these two girls- Kiernan Shipka and Ariel Winter are so adorable and in my opinion are probably the best dressed along with Hailee Stenfield. I love the colours, sweet bows and gorgeous shoes. They look so beautiful, what pretty girls. I really want dresses and shoes like this style.

So what do you think? What were your favourite and least favourite looks?

Golden Globes 2011

I have been posting about awards ceremonies and red carpet events for awhile now so I thought that I couldn't let the 2011 Golden Globes pass by without some sort of comment. I have noticed that this is a very popular topic for blog posts at the moment. I really enjoyed the fashion at the Golden Globes this year because there were many beautiful dresses. I ended up watching more of the event on television than I normally have in the past. I was so pleased to see Colin Firth win his award. In short, my favourite look was Natalie Portman and my least favourite look was Helena Bonham Carter. Here is my summary of the best and worst looks of the Golden Globes of 2011.

Best
Good
-Natalie Portman's look was classy, stylish and stunning. I adored the gorgeous strapless gown and the pretty pink material, it was the perfect shade. I loved the red detailing and accessories against the pink and the rose feature was so beautiful. I didn't think that red and pink would look so good together but they really worked. The cut and fit of the dress was just right. Her look is my absolute favourite of the event.
-I love nude tones for red carpet events and Dianna Agron's look stood out and impressed me. She looked so beautiful in this elegant and classic dress. I adore the length of the dress (without a train), the strapless style and the fit and shape and the shade against her skin tone and hair colour. Her hair is so incredibly beautiful with those loose curles and her makeup is so pretty.
-Hailee Steinfeld's look was chic, fresh and elegant and very age appropriate at the same time. White is a great colour on her and the hint of colour in the accessories was perfect. Her hair is so gorgeous and looks stunning in the long ponytail. I couldn't believe she is only fourteen because she is far more stylish here than many of those with red carpet experience.

ggood
-Scarlett Johansson certainly knew how to dress for this red carpet event. The colour of her dress is beautiful and being a neutral tone it stood out and impressed me. I loved the decorative material and the flowly skirt and pretty butterfly sleeves. The whole look is extremely classic and she looks gorgeous. I also loved her hair which compliemented her look although I overall preferred her lighter hair.
-Mila Kunis demonstrated the popular emerald green which stood out at this year's event. I adore the colour as it is different and very elegant and royal but I didn't like all of the green dresses since there was diversity in the styles. This dress was the right shade of green and I loved the one shoulder detailing and the back of the dress. I have liked Mila Kunis ever since I saw her in Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
-Lea Michele is usually on my best dressed list for red carpet events. I love the beautiful pink dress and it stood out again the myriad of black, green, red and nude tones. The detailing and ruffles were very pretty and contributed to a girly and fun look. I would have preferred if it was more symmetrical and didn't extend out to the side so much but it was gorgeous nevertheless.

Good3
-Olivia Wilde looked gorgeous in this sparkly, statement puffy dress. I love this style of dress and it is also the style I want for my wedding dress so naturally it appealed to me and I was very impressed. The colour change from top to bottom is lovely and everything about this princess dress was truly beautiful.
-My love for nude tones for the red carpet is also apparent by the choice to place Carrie Underwood on the best dressed list. She looked so beautiful, classic and elegant in this dress and I loved the strapless style and the fit. I adored the sparkly clutch which complements the look and I overall like her hairstyle apart from the front part which I'm not so sure about.
-Sarah Hyland looked so stylish in this beautiful decorative and flowy coffee coloured dress. I loved the detailing and decoration and the shape of the dress and the colour is a refreshing change from the popular nude, red, green and black of this year's event. I loved her hairstyle too since it was so elegant and pretty.

Worst
Bad1
-Helena Bonham Carter...oh dear! This outfit is far too extreme, crazy, random and shocking for my liking. It was a mix of so many different styles and a total mess. I absolutely hated the mismatched shoes and in my opinion, it was taking things too far. The outfit would have been improved dramatically if she had worn shoes that were the same colour. I thought this look was so wrong.
- I hated placing Anne Hathaway on the worst dressed list because I usually loved her style and she is one of my favourite actresses but I didn't like this dress at all. I disliked the colour and the long sleeves but I did like the back and it could have been better if it was in a different colour. I didn't like her shape in this dress and I can't even fully explain what I mean, there is just something wrong about it in my opinion.
-Halle Berry looked like she was wearing underwear or sleepwear rather than a red carpet gown and I hated the short and long length combination. I'm not a fan of the shoes either and I just disliked this look in general.

Bad2
-In my opinion Heidi Klum's outfit looked more like a beach dress rather than a red carpet look. I disliked the colour combination and the split at the front of the dress. I am not a fan of her shoes either.
-This colour is terrible and especially on Emma Stone as it seemed to wash her out. It was too plain and boring and reminded me of an extra long t-shirt which is certainly not dressy enough for a red carpet event. I know there has been a lot of popularity with this dress though but I am not a fan.
-Jennifer Love Hewitt's dress was just boring and a little dated in my opinion. I disliked the colour, shape and the top detailing part of the dress. I didn't like her hairstyle either.

Other
other
-Catherine Zeta Jones's look has been extremely popular and I don't know anyone that has not liked it. I think she looks stunning and the dress is beautiful with the emerald green colour and the fitted and strapless style. The only issue holding me back from placing her in the best dressed list is the texture of the gown and dare I say there is something about it that reminds me of fake grass?
-Again Eva Longoria's look appears to be extremely popular but I actually didn't like it. A black dress is very chic and classy but I disliked the shape of the dress and the way it flowed into a huge round train at the bottom.
-I overall disliked January Jones's look because it was far too revealing and had cut outs in all the wrong places. I completely hated the top part of the dress. The only part of her look holding me back from placing her in the worst dressed list was the bottom of the dress and the beautiful fringed material. This dress could have been so gorgeous if the top was right. I also adored the vibrant red colour.

So what do you think? I'm sure many of you will have differing opinions, probably with Anne Hathaway I predict. What are your favourite and least favourite looks?

On another note, I need your fashion advice. I recently bought my first playsuit and I am planning to wear it to a party on Saturday. It is plain black and I am wondering which accessories and shoes I should wear with it. I am thinking of either silver or black sparkly ballet flats but if you have other suggestions then please tell me. I also need ideas for accessories especially jewellery.

Emmy Awards 2010

The Emmy Awards were on recently so I decided to select some of the outfits that I liked and disliked for the subject of this post. In my opinion, there were very few beautiful dresses and many looks that I did not like and were not in accordance with my taste. My absolute favourite look of the event was definitely Jewel! I always find these sorts of posts fun and I enjoy browsing through all the photos. I'm sure some people will disagree with my choices but thats ok, I have fairly specific taste when it comes to outfits for the Red Carpet. So let me know what you think.

Good:
Untitled

-Kelly Osbourne presents a different image from what I usually see of her and I think that is a refreshing change. I haven't seen much of her for the last few years so maybe I am really out of it and I may have missed something but this is probably one of the best looks I have seen from her. I think she looks classy and I love the detailing and shape of the dress as something extra on a black dress.
-I love Jewel's dress and I think she looks very beautiful. The colour of her dress is pretty and the detailing and train make a statement. I love the decorative and fitted top and I think the bow and purse are just so sweet. I adore dresses in nude tones at the moment and Jewel's look was without a doubt my favourite of the event.
-Lea Michele often dresses well for red carpet events and I have seem a lot of popularity centred around some of her looks this year. The colour of her dress is classy but it is the style and fit that make a statement. I think the bottom of it is creative and something different. This look suits her so well.

Bad:
Untitled

- Lauren Graham. This dress is just so random and I have heard mixed opinions about it. I personally think it is totally wrong and very unflattering. I don't like the random white part against the black and I am not a fan of the shoes or the slit up the side.
-Lo Bosworth. This dress could have been ok for another occassion but I personally don't think it is appropriate for the red carpet. It seems too casual and like the sort of dress someone would wear to the office. I think the length of this dress is wrong and it should have either been longer or shorter. It this dress had some minor adjustments and was a little more glam then it might have been ok.
-Rutina Wesley. I strongly dislike the colours and pattern of this dress and the slit up the side is completely unflattering for her in my opinion. I dislike the shoes and there is just something about this whole look that makes me think that it is totally wrong.

I feel like I scared a lot of you away with my last post but I am very thankful for the people that did comment. I like to be able to share many aspect of my life not just the happiness and fashion related posts but if you are just here for the fashion etc then that is perfectly fine too. It is just unbelievable how many issues and difficult events have arisen in the past few weeks to both myself and some of the important people around me. I feel affected by my own issues and those of others. I know that I have problems with nerves and anxiety but I think that many people would be feeling stressed out and unsure of things if they were in the position that I am in now. Thats all I have to say about it for now and I'll make sure that my next few posts are much more positive.

Red Carpet 2010

I have been posting about awards ceremonies for a while now so I thought that I couldn't let the most important one pass by without some sort of comment. I really enjoyed the fashion at the Oscars this year because there were more dresses than usual that were in accordance with my taste and there weren't too many fashion disasters. Unfortunately I don't have as much time to make as comprehensive review as I would like to so this will have to suffice. As you can tell by my choices I absolutely adore nude colour dresses.

Good:

-Anna Kendrick is relatively new to the red carpet but she certainly knows how to dress for these sorts of events. The colour of her dress is beautiful and the style and sleeves make a statement. I love the decorative and fitted top which flairs out into a flowy skirt. The whole look is extremely classy. I also love her hair style which suited her look.
-Its a refreshing change to see Kristin Stewart look so elegant in this outfit and I much prefer it to some of her previous and fun outfits. I like the deep and rich colour and I think it is a sophisticated look.
-I love Demi Moore's dress and I think she looks very pretty. Again, the colour of her dress is beautiful and very in at the moment and the ruffles at the bottom make a statement and are so gorgeous. I also like the top of the dress and the incorporation of the two shades of pink. This is very close to being my favourite dress of the event.

Photobucket
-Miley's dress was my absolute favourite of the whole event and I think it is just perfect. This dress is timeless, classic and classy and I love the fitted and silky bodice which flairs out into a stunning dress. I think the choice of champagne colour rather than white complemented her look. I disagree with anyone who says that Miley's dress is too old for her because I don't think seventeen is too young to try a sophisticated look. I think she pulled this off perfectly and I love how her red carpet taste has developed in the past couple of years. I honestly can't explain how much I love this dress.
-I love Rachel McAdams and I think she is very talented. The main reason why I like this dress is because it is different and colourful. Although I love nude and metalic dresses, it is also refreshing to have some variety and pattern.
-Cameron Diaz's outfit is another stunning dress in a neutral tone. I simple love the detailing and decoration and the shape of this dress. It is a beautiful, statement dress and one of my favourite of her red carpet looks.

There were many more dresses that I didn't like but I only have time to select a few- Jennifer Lopez, Nicole Richie and Sarah Jessica Parker. In my opinion these dresses are completely wrong and I strongly dislike them. Feel free to disagree with me in regards to any of my choices.

So...what did you think?

Grammy Awards 2010

The Grammy Awards were on not too long ago so I decided to select some of the outfits that I like and some that I don't like. It was actually quite fun, I'd like to do it more often when these events occur. I didn't find many outstanding outfits but there were a few I liked. I'm sure a lot of people will disagree with my choices but thats ok, I have a fairly specific taste when it comes to outfits for the red carpet.

-Lea Michele often dresses well for red carpet events and her look for the Grammy Awards was extremely popular. The colour of the dress is classy but its the style and fit of it that makes a statement. It love the asymmetrical and tight fitting top which flairs out into a tutu style skirt with texture.
-I love Taylor Swift and I think she is extremely talented and very pretty. The colour of her dress is the most beautiful and stunning shade of blue and the sparkles make a statement. I also like the top of the dress and how it sits off the shoulders. My only slight suggestion is that it would have been nice to see her in a shorter dress to show more of her figure and to reflect her youthfulness but I'm sure there will be many more occassions for that and I appreciate the elegant look she achieved.
-Its a refreshing change to see Pink look so feminine in this outfit. The bodice of the dress is a stunning feature and I like how the colour transforms from top to bottom. The detailing on the dress and her jewellery are beautiful.

-Keri Hilson's dress is timeless, classic and classy. At first I wasn't sure about the flair at the bottom of the dress but after looking at it some more I am now convinced that I like it and it complements the style. I adore the colour of the dress and I think the sparkly belt really sets off the whole look.
-At first I wasn't sure about Miley Cyrus' outfit and I think I'd like it better if it were longer and had shorter sleeves but overall I would place it in the good category. I think it is a different, fresh look that accurately reflects her youthfulness. Its a lovely colour and the shoes complement the dress.
-India Arie's dress is simple but classy and stylish at the same time. The sparkles are gorgeous and add a touch of glamour to her look. I think the dress is flattering and her jewellery is beautiful.

-Lady Gaga. I know there are mixed opinions about this outfit but it is way too extreme and crazy for my liking.
-Kristen Bell. This dress is dull, boring and shapeless particularly for someone as pretty and attractive as Kristen. She has an amazing figure and I think she could have done a lot better than this.

-Katy Perry. I strongly dislike the colour of this dress and the pattern and the shape is completely wrong for her. I thought Katy was supposed to be a style icon so I expected a lot more from her.

-Malin Akerman. This futuristic inspired outfit is crazy and completely wrong. I can't believe that out of all possible outfits, Malin ended up wearing this. I really don't know what to say.
-Ciara. I personally think this is the worst outfit from the entire event. She looks like some sort of warrior. Seriously...no.
-Nicole Polizzi. This dress is extremely tacky and unflattering. The shape and the fit are completely wrong and it is way too short. I cannot believe that she would attend the Grammy Awards in this dress. I don't like the shoes either and I think that might have something to do with the shape of them.

So what do you think?
